WWE need to film a segment where Damien Sandow and Kevin Nash visit an art gallery together. Then they should do it again but get attacked by Brodus Clay. That in turn should lead to a falls count anywhere match in a fictional modern art gallery. Guest referee the Maestro. And for one night only Triple H reverts to his old Blue Blood gimmick as the special enforcer.

If what Nash says is true, I wonder why the Big Show, Great Khali, Jackson Andrews and Eli Cottonwood didn't trigger another boom period, I mean, they're four of the largest workers in wrestling history. I wonder why guys like Giant Titan, Nathan Jones, Kurrgan, Giant Silva, Ron Reis, Matt Morgan, Uncle Elmer, Viscera, Nash's ol' tag partner Tyler Mane, Horace Hogan, The Harris Bros. and so on all failed to make a huge impact in the wrestling business.
Maybe, just maybe there's more to being a superstar than being tall, you need to have a connection with the fans, they need to feel a connection with your character or story, which is something they did with Eddie and Benoit, and something, aside from a few years in the late 90s, they rarely felt with Nash. Oz was a bust, Vinnie Vegas was a bust, Diesel was the worst drawing champ in WWF history at that point. The NWO was stellar but was far from a solo effort and quickly grew stale, the NWO reunions were a bust, he did squat for TNA, but hey, he still gets nostalgia pops so he obviously knows what works... I mean, it's not like guys like Tatanka get those, oh wait.

I guess why wrestlers say stuff like that is to try to get attention. It doesn't help with people believing anything they say, like, at all. They can say whatever stupid, and then when people call them out for being stupid, they go, HA!, you're a mark! You can't lose when you do stuff like this.

twitter.com/The305MVPMVP wrote the following on Twitter in response to Kevin Nash's comments about smaller wrestlers not drawing: "Kevin Nash is right. Smaller guys don't draw. I mean who would pay any money to watch itty bitty guys like Mayweather or Paquiao?"

This thread made me laugh. Everyone fell for it. Does that mean he isn't an art expert? Damn that Nash! Double worked again.

Can we ever have a discussion about wrestling without someone coming in, trying to sound superior, talking about how everyone just got worked?

And what's the work? People basically saying Nash is out of touch and a jerk? He's not making any money off of it, so the work failed. Nash, of all people, concerns himself with the money but this isn't going to get him another WWE run. So, why bother?

And can you really call it a work when Nash actually believes the things he's saying? It's all more trolling the fans rather than working them.

He said what he believes without any thought of how out of touch and how much of a jerk it made him seem. When people who would pay to watch him and a few of his peers pointed out how much of an ass he seemed, he threw his hands up and said 'Just kidding! Oh you marks, I got you again!' and some people fell for it, acting like others are marks, despite the fact Nash has expressed similar thoughts in the past.
With skills like his, he really should try his hand at politics, he'd fit right in there.

I'd love for the guys up on their high horses to explain how this is a work.

I've always liked Nash, but he comes off as kind of a douchebag by taking shots at two guys that aren't around to defend themselves. I just think that after all these years, Nash is still bitter about how the 11th incarnation of the nWo didn't save WCW and his WWF runs flopped while those vanilla midgets that jumped ship got prime Wrestlemania slots. He shouldn't talk about them not drawing either when the Mania he faced Michaels for the WWE Title did 340,000 while Mania XX did 1,007,000.

This is the heat of the argument. The points he made about Daniel Bryan and CM Punk are being passed over because Nash uses an emotional moment in wrestling to get his point across. Otherwise, Nash wouldn't be trolling and instead he would be saying stuff like Vince did on Raw to DB.

No, Nash. Benoit and Guerrero hugging wasn't the end of the business. That would have been when you and your buddies pissed all over kayfabe in MSG. Considering the biggest boom period in the history of wrestling occurred after this incident I'd say this is incorrect. Nash is somewhat correct in what he is saying, although saying it in a disrespectful way. The business has been declining since 2002 or hell maybe even before that. I wouldn't personally blame Guerrero or Benoit (well maybe Benoit for some but totally different reasons) for the decline. He is right about the larger than life aspect of wrestling being almost gone. I mentioned a few weeks ago when The Rock was in the ring with Punk and Bryan how tiny they looked compared to him. Now I'm sure The Rock can make both of them look like they are killing him but it's just hard to suspend belief when there is so much size difference. Oh i'm not disputing that. What i'm getting at is my belief that the curtain call, and incidents like it that pulled the curtain back on kayfabe, had a huge detrimental effect on the sport in the long term. Sure, they had that massive but short boom period afterwards, but exposing the business like they did had serious implications on the future of wrestling, especially with the rise of MMA- which is to me essentially pro wrestling without the predetermined finishes. Meh, maybe i'm just an old fart when it comes to stuff like that. But i still believe that the curtain call harmed the business a lot more than the WM XX hug. Nash IMO has no right to say what he said.

Wow! That's amazing!
I kind of agree with him on some points. I think Nash does this because he is genuinely pissed off that internet fans tend to dislike him and like smaller work horse guys. I've heard him talk about criticism of his work and defend it and I've actually tended to agree with him - I don't want a big guy like that flying everywhere - beat someone up and take your time.
But wrestling is all about variety - the Nash's have their place and the Daniel Bryan's have their place. The real "larger than life superstars" are a rare breed, and very rare by today's standards. But then, I personally love YouTube videos of Punk arguing with people in the crowd. I like that the WWE Champion seems accessible in that way.
I think Nash genuinely says what he feels and calls work when he gets called on it, and while he's a clearly a clever guy, I think he thinks here cleverer than he is and that can come across as very irritating...
