I'm sorry, everyone. I love the Sharknado. It's so stupid that I have to love it. Even if it may infringe on an idea that I had years ago, if that Sharknado goes anywhere near a mall. I applaud this movie's existence.

Trailer for the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake. Of course Malcolm McDowell is in it. No sir, I don't like it. Although the site of Santa Claus holding a flamethrower is rather awesome. Where is our version of The Night The Reindeer Died?

Well, if it's anything like the Black Christmas remake we got a few years ago...it'll suck...hard. Thought to be honest, I haven't seen either of the original movies. But I always loved it in the preview for the first Silent Night, Deadly Night when crusty old grandpa is sitting there going off and trying to scare the crap out of the little kid. I'm at least glad to hear that infamous line makes it return. I wonder how crotchety certain people will get about another evil Christmas movie coming out. Though I doubt that it will get a whole of publicity.

Heard that the new Puppet Master movie is terrible. Really not much of a surprise there since the last one wasn't that good

I applaud this movie's existence. I'm with you on that one, DSR - both on Sharknado and your legendary flying shark-in-a-mall movie. Someone needs to get on that one STAT! Trailer for the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake. Of course Malcolm McDowell is in it. No sir, I don't like it. Although the site of Santa Claus holding a flamethrower is rather awesome. Where is our version of The Night The Reindeer Died? The original Silent Night Deadly Night is definitely a movie that fits into the "so bad it's good by accident" category. DSR once gave us the sage wisdom that movies that actually TRY to be "so bad they're good" just come across as really, really bad, and based on that trailer, this one falls into the latter category.

It's kinda old news by now, but I'm glad Scream Factory (the cult horror/sci-fi branch of Shout Factory) will be releasing a swank new special edition DVD (maybe just Blu-Ray, but I'm hoping for a DVD release as well) of THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN. It's one of my favorite 70s horrors.
...I realized today that I hadn't seen this thread in a while, and wanted to bring it back up. Cheers!

For no reason other than I've sorta missed doing it, here's a review: SANTO Y BLUE DEMON CONTRA EL DR. FRANKESTEIN (1973) - This is one of the many films in which the famed Luchadores battle with monsters. The Dr. Frankenstein of this film is the original doctor's grandson, Irving, carrying on the family business of mad science. The 113-year-old Irving (Jorge Russek) has discovered the Beta Factor, a substance that the body loses when it ages. By drinking a formula containing this Beta Factor, the doc and his henchmen have remained youthful (well...middle-aged for some reason) for an extended period of time. There's also the brain transplants, which the doctor probably learned from his grandpappy's notes or something. These are the primary focus of Irving's work, as he's terrorized the people of Mexico by kidnapping some beauties and switching their brains And when they don't survive the operation, he puts transistors at the bases of their skulls so that he can move their corpses like remote control cars! Dr. Frankenstein has had one successful brain transplant, resulting in his hulking muscleman henchman Golem, though Golem also has a remote control device at the base of his skull. At least he won't decompose any time soon, I guess. *shrug* Anyway, the mad doctor wishes to continue his brain transplant experiments, and he's got his eye on Santo as his next test subject. The famed lucha legend isn't gonna up and volunteer, though, so the mad doctor kidnaps Alicia, the daughter of another wrestler and Santo's close friend (though it's suggested that Santo is possibly in love with her). Santo and his tag team partner Blue Demon have got their work cut out for them: the evil Dr. Frankenstein, his army of henchmen, and of course the super-strong Golem! Plus they still have matches scheduled! While Santo gets top billing in this picture, it's Blue Demon that really steals the show. Always quicker to anger than Santo, his mask looks cooler, and he looks badass in a suit! (Blue Demon is the pimp on the right) Other than Blue Demon, the film is alright, though nothing too special. The fight scenes are on par with the old Adam West Batman show, though without the BAM! POW! WHIFF! displays. The whole film feels sorta like that, like it could've been a campy classic but it actually took itself too seriously for that to happen. The few remote-controlled zombies we see are kinda cool looking, though we don't get anybody with green skin. Or a flat-top head. Or neckbolts. *sigh* 3 stars out of 5. Though it's not a colossal bore by any means, the film is neither scary enough or "weird s*** happening" enough to be truly great.

Wow, this thread has really, really dropped far down the Off-Topic barometer.
Better late than never (I hope), so I enjoyed the review DSR. To date, I still haven't seen any of the Luchadore movies; a few of them were on MST3K, but sadly aired before Comedy Central got on the airwaves around my neck of the woods.
Anyway, what I came in here to post was the fact that I'm now starting to see television ads for Texas Chain Saw 3D and...I actually don't think it looks half-bad. At the very least, it looks more in tune with the spirit of the second movie in the franchise and it's got some sexy chicks to gawk at. Maybe, juts maybe, I'll take a break from the big project I'm working on at the moment (that sadly has nothing to do with horror) to head out to the local cinema and type up a review when that day comes.

Haven't seen any ads for TC3D. But I've never been a fan of the franchise, so I'm not looking forward to it, anyway.

To steal from another thread: Are there any horror dvds that you've only watched one?
Like I said over there I only watched I Spit on Your Grave and Last House on the left only one. NOTLD 30th edition I watched once to know it's crapiness.

Finally got around to seeing The Collection and I was not dissapointed lots of gore and different enough from the first that things feel fresh , and arkin is easily my favourite horror protagonist in a very long time.
Only thing is that the movie goes by REALLY and I mean really fast I felt like I was watching for only 15min and yet I was already 45min into the movie..so if there is a fault is that movie moves like the gawd damn road runner , but I guess for all the complaints that the first moved too slow for some that this was the fix.
But I say if you enjoyed the first definetly watch the sequel awesome stuff.

Saw the opening on YouTube. One of the coolest things I've seen in a horror movie in some time.

Both Collector flicks have eluded me thus far. When the day comes that I get around to writing reviews again, they will be high up on the docket. Although I might be checking out Silent Night one of these days out of sheer masochism. This is a brave new world that we live in when goddamn direct-to-Netflix movies get TV commercials, but I've seen them, Malcolm McDowell in all of his hammy glory and all. To steal from another thread: Are there any horror dvds that you've only watched one? Like I said over there I only watched I Spit on Your Grave and Last House on the left only one. NOTLD 30th edition I watched once to know it's crapiness. There are a TON of movies in my collection that I have only watched once. That's not to say that I've actively disliked a lot of the movies, just that I've been in "accrue horror collection" mode over the past five+ years, including a bunch of movies that I had never seen before. The one that sticks out immediately as one that I have only watched once and will never pop in again is Zombie's Halloween, which I bought solely to post backbiting comments about it in this thread. I'm also fairly confident that I won't be watching any Leprechaun movies again anytime soon.

Out of the few reviews I've seen, I've heard "it's okay" mostly. I get a "it's an 80's slasher in 2012" vibe out of it. Kills are cool, the cast is decent, and it's slick looking. Other than that, it sucks when it's not Santa killing bitches.

Texas Chainsaw 3D is nearing theaters. I'll have to give the PR team credit because the trailers are doing a nice job advertising the film. Quick glances of things like Leatherface running around a carnival with his chainsaw. The placing of the weapon on a woman's shoulder. Him sewing a 'mask.'
There's no real plot being given which, given the story we've heard, is probably a great idea. Still doubtful I'll see it in theaters. Not unless I get a group of people together so we can talk about it later.

I can't post the link, but on Yt, they released the first 6 minutes of the remake of Maniac with Elijah Wood. NSFW! by the by.

Mysterydriver, I agree wholeheartedly on the TCM 3D ads. Classic example of the "less is more" concept being played out to perfection.

I doubt the new TCM movie will be anything special, but dammit, the thought of sexy Alexandra Daddario is probably enough to get me to shell out ten bucks to see it. Ooh, bonus gif!
