Violent Shit III: Infantry of Doom/Zombie Doom *DVD* I watched this a few weeks ago but I bought the entire Violent Shit series boxes set so I had no problem watching it again. I wanted to see how the story unwove itself. And the versions on the boxed set have the original German audio and English subtitles rather than a dubbed English audio track. As far as I can tell though the dialogue is the same in both versions. This one does try to have a story and a plot. It was probably best that I watched this first a few weeks ago and then the first to because those two are better. Not to say this one isn’t violent as hell. It’s just a lot slower than the other two, thanks to the attempted plot. I prefer the artsy mindless killing and the mindless mindless killing of the first two. This has a comical tone to it as well. Some intended, some inadvertent. There’s some ridiculous kills; like the ninja who flys through a sword and gets cut in half from head to toe, or the other ninja who gets a knife through the head then his head is kicked off and it impales a third ninja. It’s got a higher kill count than the first two. Basically it became an ultra-graphic action movie for this one. If you like gore you’re still in for a treat with this one. But I’d watch this one before the first two because this is lesser thanks to the tone. If I wanted story I’d read a book. But when I want violent shit I watch Violent Shit.

Violent Shit II: Mother Hold my Hand *DVD* I went into this with much higher expectations than a sane person would but wow it exceeded them. It was definitely more violent and gorier than its predecessor, with Son of Karl being even more brutal than his deceased father (who I don’t even remember dying in the first one). It does more to explain what the hell was going on in the first movie in five minutes than that movie did in its entire run-time. And also adds humour (which can be lost in all the splatter) and some incest, because why not. If there’s any downside it’s that it eschews that arty edge the first movie had. That was sick shit that mesmerized you. This was sick shit that made your jaw drop. That and there was a scene at a construction site where there was a wood chipper or something and it didn’t get used. So it’s settled. f*** Freddy. f*** Leatherface. f*** Pinhead. And f*** even Jason. Karl the Butcher is the King and Violent Shit is the shit. 21/10 These reviews are tempting me to buy Synapse’s Violent Shit collection. I also enjoy that the cover boasts, “Five Film Collector’s Shitition”

I’m not sure yet if it only has the German audio. The dubbed English audio is what made that movie so awesome. Unless it’s the same script. Then it’s the greatest movie ever. I’ll know in a few days. I’m working my way in order and Violent Shit IV: Karl the Butcher vs. Axe is next.

Violent Shit 4: Karl the Butcher vs. Axe *DVD* Karl is brought back from hell to kill a new threat “Axe” in the year 2029. But he meets a bunch of Mad Max-esc resistance along the way. They fight for maybe two minutes at the beginning before deciding to join forces, eventually learning (in one of the most emotionally charged scenes I’ve seen in my life) that they are indeed father and son. I was in tears. It was as impactful as Vader’s revelation to Luke. The comedy is amped up in this instalment and the gore was actually a little less. It was still very violent but all tongue-in-cheek this time. It was filmed in English and in 2010. Still directly on video but it looks much more modern. And the women shaved their armpits in this one. Speaking of the women; there’s one extremely hot girl named Eleanor James who looks a lot like “professional wrestler” Peyton Royce. And she takes her top off. All said and done it was the weakest of the original Violent Shit movies (the fifth one was just a homage) but still an enjoyable time.

Toxic Zombies *DVD* A bunch of hippies are illegally growing marijuana in a forest so the government decides to hire a redneck with a crop duster to dust their field with some experimental stuff or something. You know where this is going. It looks the part and it sounds the part. The acting is terrible. The sound effects are terrible. The script is surprisingly more believable than some other zombie movies. The zombies are kinda scary looking but that’s because they cast real ugly hippies and rednecks. It really lacks a lead character. “Tom” may be the lead? He seems more concerned with sex than anything. Or maybe the zombies themselves are the stars? Given what I usually watch that doesn’t bother me too much. What does suck is that the gore and overall violence level is really low. Thankfully it offsets that with some really dated jokes and characters that wouldn’t fly in today’s environment.

Anyone giving/getting any horror related gifts this year? Tales from the Crypt: The Complete Series on DVD is currently selling for just $34.75 brand new on eBay. I decided to pick two up, one for myself and one as a gift. I’ve had it on my watchlist for a long time and have never seen it this cheap. Copies appear legit too, not bootlegs I also briefly had that Violent Shit DVD set on my Amazon wishlist, but decided to take it off. It would just be too weird to ask someone to get that for me as a gift lol. I think I’ll buy it for myself as a little treat when I do my big Amazon Christmas order in about a week or so. Speaking of inappropriate gifts I’m always tempted to add Antropophagus to my wishlist as a gag. Especially because I have people looking at my wishlist who think things like Scream are too gory. If you don’t know about Antropophagus, Google the cover art

If you don’t know about Antropophagus, Google the cover art Years ago,99 or so,a buddy came over to visit me. Asked if he could use my computer to check his email. I went to the bathroom and while I was in there he added the Italian rip off of Caligula to my DVD empire wishlist. The same wishlist I sent to my Aunts. One of the Aunts did the Xmas shopping for my grandparents. So that year Xmas day we are all at my grandparent's home. I start opening my gifts and there is Caligula on DVD. Found out later that day that my fave Uncle saw it on the wishlist and got my aunt to get it for me. "Figured only you and I would have any idea what the movie was. Plus the look on your face when you saw it was priceless." I'm tempted to go put the Violent Shit set on my Amazon Wishlist. The only horror thing I know I'm getting for Xmas is my parents are paying for a year of Shudder for me. I bet my kinda mother in law will get me at least one horror film on dvd or blu ray. She knows I'm huge into the horror genre. So most years gets me a movie.

It looks like they make their own DVDs or at least have stock for some super low budget stuff. Ever see any of those? It looks like a few regular movies are even in there. The rest looks like softcore stuff with a horror theme. Like a Misty Mundae picture with lots of blood or what Something Weird Video would put out if they had modern day stuff.

See that the site has some Bill Zebub films. Years ago on my old podcast we covered Zombiechrist,Dolla Morte and Antfarm D ckhole.
Dolla Morte was the best of the three.

The one movie of his I saw (the aforementioned Antfarm Dickhole) has a lot of brutal death metal on the soundtrack.

A Few Screws Loose/Beaten to a Pulp *DVD* There couldn’t be a better title to describe this movie (and its viewers) than “A Few Screws Loose”. It’s a disjointed trip much like the Vomit Gore Series and a lot of the other weird gore shit I watch but surprisingly tame. There is gore but a lot of the violence and killing is off-screen. What I did like was the gonzo crash editing to the video and the sound, the pornogrind synth soundtrack and some of the cool non-violence scenes like the two girls throwing the garbage can around. Some of the acting was really great too. Terrible but so over-the-top terrible that it was incredible. So much of this movie is nonsensical and that’s why I loved it. I’m not even sure what the story was. I think it was about a simpleton who kinda idolizes a homocidal underground porn director but gets beaten up by him so he seeks revenge. But there’s a scene halfway in of the porn director getting killed. Then he’s in the next scene alive killing randos. Then there’s a scene where some guy who’s never been in the movie up until that point attacks a girl jogging but she ends up killing him. It was almost as if they accidentally edited some parts of a different movie in and didn’t bother watching the final product before sending it to DVD...printing...factory...place. A few screws loose indeed. Loved it.

The Pack. 1977. Cujo times 15 basically.
I have a feeling Stephen King was partially inspired by this picture, or maybe the novel it is based on, in the creation of his rabies opus.
I had fun from start to finish with this one. It is intense, exiting and suspenseful, mostly with characters you do not want to see die. For some reason I must have been jittery tonight as the picture had my heart skip a beat on 3 occasion within a short time span.
The actions of the dogs are somewhat over the top but mostly steeped in reality and whoever handled the animal action here did a masterful job as they came of scary, ferocious and seriously looking like the could easily rip someone to shreds. Proceedings were also tremendously aided by the picture's composer. Location shooting is always a blast and in this one you could really feel the woods closing in on the characters. There was no real stupidity on display to serve the plot either.
Though some characters are under written the cast does an admirable job with what they have to work with, with Joe Don Baker playing his badass everyday man shtick too perfection. And it is also always a treat to see Bibi Besch despite not getting much to do.
The gore is saved for the animal deaths with the human element only covered in blood. But excessive gore was not a necessity as the tension and scares more than made up for it. If you can not stand to see dogs in peril and harm come to them, this picture is not for you, trust me.
The negatives were infinitesimal at best so I will give it 4 tourists needing a visit from Annie Wilkes with a sledgehammer out of 4.
Highly recommended.

100 Tears *DVD* I got this DVD twice and both copies skipped at the beginning. I was going to just watch what I could and return it a second time but the skipping was just at the beginning, it only interrupted a small bit of plot... ...and I really could give a crap about the plot. The violence was off the chart and the guy who played the clown was so good in the role. It made up for the boring ass plot, which really took up way too much of the movie and sucked hard. It’s apparently a black comedy but there was really nothing funny in it. Unless it was so bad that I didn’t even know it was supposed to be comedy. I decided to just keep the DVD though.

Zombie ‘90: Extreme Pestilence *DVD* Also included with the Violent Shit Collection is this fifth movie: the almost superior Zombie ‘90: Extreme Pestilence. I watched this last month and didn’t need a reason to watch it again, but I did have a reason. Since Violent Shit had its original German audio track on this set I wanted to see if this movie did too. It didn’t and that’s both bad and good. It’s bad only because of my curiosity. I really wanted to see if they were using the original script. I strongly doubted it but I needed to know. But it’s good because the English dub is what makes it so much more even awesome. I’m glad it’s the English dub because I know KAMALARAMBO: BOOMSHAKALAKA!!! bought the set too and he’s going to get (what is likely) the superior version of this film. Incredible voice dubbing, brutal gore violence and an incredible script. Zombie ‘90>>>>Fulcis Zombie>>>>>Day of the Dead>>>>>Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead>>>>every other zombie movie
