Oh, cool! I'll have to check that out when I get home from work. My buddy Vincent Renfield is in that! He's in most my movies! Well damn, I had no idea!

Wanted to point out my indie horror movie Door 1 of the 5 Doors to Hell is currently streaming free on Tubi (DVD now out on Amazon) if anyone wants to watch it. It's for people who are fond of stuff like shot on video movies. I appreciate that they mentioned Vomit Gore in the first minute.

While I enjoyed my boy's performance in "Ghost Car", the third segment was my favorite overall. So silly!
Also, I really liked the fat guy that showed up in all four segments.

Yeah I’ll post a more personalized review here. I really liked the fourth segment and the guy with the long hair kinda breaking the fourth wall. As well I really liked the big guy that appeared in all four segments and the other guy who was also with him, although he wasn’t as noticeable. Above all I loved the music. There were a few really glaring continuity errors (like the gun in the fourth part being left on the TV stand but then being in the guys pocket in the bathroom) but if I wanted pristine serious I’d watch something other than SOV horror. I really appreciated that you ( Chuck Conry) and your friends were just having fun making a movie and didn’t take it to seriously. And I’m not just saying that because you’re posting here. I liked it and would but it alongside Redneck Zombies with other trashy SOV horror. And me calling it “trashy” shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. I gave Long Island Cannibal Massacre 516/10 a few pages back. I’m fact, here’s the review I’ll be posting elsewhere

185. The Dead Pit* *Tubi* This was decent enough forgotten slasher/zombie movie. The atmosphere backdrop of the asylum really worked and while the zombies were really cheesy the gore was excellent. The three leads (Jeremy Slate, Cheryl Lawson and Stephen Gregory Foster) were really enjoyable too. Ultimately I’d have liked more gore and Cheryl Lawson take her top off more but this was a fun one to watch.

Contracted* *DVD* This reminded me of Cloverfield, as it started with a party that everyone I never wanted anything to do with being there and me praying for the Statue of Liberty’s head to come flying through the window. Except this one has a couple IN YOUR FACE f*** YOU I’M A LESBIAN I’M A LESBIAN neurotic lesbians who you want to see get crushed by a monster foot even more. No monster feet in this one though; just an STD that causes a lot of blood from…places followed by ear splitting hallucinations, a rash, a bloody eye, vaginal maggots, teeth falling out, puking blood; you know. By the third day you’ll have lost most of the feeling in your body and your hair will start falling out. But your biggest problem will still be your mom ALWAYS BEING ON YOUR DAMN BACK and your boss demanding you still come to work despite your fingernails coming off in the salads your preparing. Sadly the the one you really want to see get “it” gets nothing and the girl who does get “it” you almost feel bad for if she wasn’t still a total bitch to everyone around her in spite of her body decomposing. But you can still get totally high. It was very reminiscent of a movie I saw a few months ago called Thanatomorphose except not as dark, disturbing and gory. I wouldn’t say this is a PG-13 version of that movie. This is just rated-R while that’s NC-17. The big problem, if you didn’t get it from my first paragraph, was that I still hated the main character, the supporting characters, the characters who are in one scene, the characters who were cut from the script…the caterers. To the point where when the girl finally loses it and it’s supposed to be all tense and climactic I started laughing and got great joy. I didn’t hate it though. I actually liked it. Yes, for some of the wrong reasons. But the part where she French kisses another girl but puked blood into her mouth was pretty cool.

Bite* *DVD* This movie literally started almost EXACTLY the same as the one I watched last night called “Contracted”: a bunch of annoying ass people you immediately have no sympathy for PAAAAAARRRRRRTTAAAAAAAAYing, except this time it’s three annoying girls at one of their batchlorette party and they’re even worse actresses. One gets bitten while swimming in a grotto they really shouldn’t be in and hilarity ensues. It was almost the same movie really. There’s more slime in this one. And the girl in this one takes what’s happening to her a lot more seriously than the girl in Contracted did. Sadly the writing is way worse and the movie ends up a lot cheesier. I liked both but Contracted did leave a bit stronger an impression. It had a wicked score, which I never mentioned in my review of that one. This one was definitely nastier and more graphic. But like I said it got too cheesy. One thing for certain, if you like caviar you’re never going to be able to eat it again after watching this.

Watched Psycho Goreman today and it was ... disappointing. Good things first: Excellent practical effects, the costumes were phenomenally cheesy, the gore juicy. I liked all of the designs and I especially liked that the team didn't bother with the parts that were obviously clunky, like some stop motion effects. They just ran with the practical stuff, didn't hide it behind found footage style or too little lighting. I also liked some of the humerous moments, but here lies one of the problems: The absurd premise would make for a hilarious movie if at least parts of it would have been played straight. But it was all pretty absurd. The humans acted as otherworldly as the otherworldly monsters, so the clash wasn't much of a clash at all. I quite liked the actors, including the child actors, but they had to work with a weak script. From the opening scene onwards it was clear there wouldn't be much space for character progression, because they were all a bunch of comic reliefs. So the story as a whole didn't progress smoothly either. It's a movie that would've greatly benefitted from being a tv show. One I really wanted to like as a childhood fan of Power Rangers and a lifelong fan of horror and (to a lesser extend) gore. As it stands, I love the idea, the acting and the production values - but neither the script, nor the direction.

Nightbeast* *bluray* Whoa boy. I was about to comment solely on the cheese of the monster in this…then the sex scene happened. It was…it was one of the worse good bad things I’ve seen in my life. Imagine your parents in a sex scene. There it is. Wow. Just wow. This was basically an R-rated episode of Scooby Doo, which is exactly what I said about Don Dohlers previous movie “the Alien Factor” last year. In my review of that I only wished for more gore and I got it with this. Not too much but enough for long me to give this the highest recommendation that is humanly possible.

Ladrones de tumbas (Grave Robbers)* *bluray* Right from the second I hit play this had me with one of the best opening credit sequences I’ve seen. Simple red letters on a black background but with this haunting chant music that can only lead to nightmares. The music ended up being a huge high point for this movie and unfortunately the soundtrack isn’t available anywhere in any form I can find. The movie itself is a great dirty gritty Mexican gore fest that only keeps getting better the longer it goes on. Great ambiance and violence. I couldn’t ask for a more wonderful zombie movie.

Creatures from the Abyss (1994) Holy shit is this movie awesome! Don’t let the poster or heck even the year fool you. Given those you might think it was an Akira rip off or something. No, instead it’s an Abyss rip off. I guess with this title it was too easy to tell that hence why it also goes by the much less cool name, Plankton. The movie is about five teens on a motor boat near Miami. One of the dumb asses leaves the gas behind after a trip. The other dumb asses fail to notice this. That is until the boat runs out of gas and a harsh storm hits. Luckily the horny teens come across a seemingly abandoned research ship formerly inhabited by equally horny scientists. How do we know they were so horny? Well, a number of very sexually themed belongings including a lamp resembling a Greek God with a massive rod. The lightbulb is right where the head of his dong is supposed to be. Anyway, the teens come across some lab experiments. Some gnarly looking fish. The rest of the movie can be summed up in the line, “Carnivorous fish that live out of water, you know what that means?” Yeah, it means we’re going to have a kickass movie! Here check out the trailer: Highly recommended especially if you get it as part of Shriek Show’s Mutant Creatures Triple Feature set. I’ve plugged that set a bunch, but it really is great. I was surprised each movie seemed to get better. The opening movie The Dark isn’t that great. But The Being kicks ass and this one kicks ass even harder! I’m kind of surprised I’ve never seen Creatures from the Abyss talked about. As best as I can figure it’s partly because it didn’t come out until 1994, but seems much more like an early 1980’s movie. In fact before I looked up the year, I thought it was fitting the company behind it was 82 Productions.

Bio-Zombie* *DVD* This one started out really stupid (as expected) and stayed pretty stupid until around the last ten minutes. Then it got as serious as it could tying up one sweet subplot and finishing with a somewhat surprising ending. I can’t give it a 9 or 10 because the gore was too low and there should have been boobs. But it’s a solid “7”.

A Night to Dismember* *DVD* This was certainly a greasy piece of trash, I’m just not sure which greasy piece of trash I watched. There are two versions of the movie which I’ve heard are totally different from one another. The one version is the 70 minute one with all the extra footage added after three reels of the movie had been destroyed. The version I have is the 79 minute version and I don’t know how much of my it is found footage thought to have been restored. All I know is the 70 minute version has Samantha Fox in the lead role while this does not. At least I don’t think it does. I thought Samantha Fox had dark hair but the lead in this is blonde. Maybe it is Samantha Fox? I honestly wouldn’t know. The 70 minute version also has a monster or something and the one I have does not. So the one I have does have a decent amount of gore and a wicked soundtrack that really feels like your descending into complete madness. Since it’s source was a 40 year old VHS the audio and video bending really helps that out. What I think both versions have is severe audio delay of almost three seconds on everything. That really should have (and could have) been fixed by modern technology. It does add a bit more to the madness but I found it too distracting and the music was so f***ed up that being in synch would have been enough. A fraction of a second I can live with but this was too much. So while I did enjoy this quite a bit now I really have to find the 70 minute version since everything I read points to it being an even more disjointed mess.

Just finished watching the first RESIDENT EVIL (2002), a film I hadn't seen since it was new. Based on the Capcom video game of the same name, the film is concerned with the Umbrella Corporation, a powerful company responsible for many everyday household items as well as military weaponry, genetic engineering, and viral research (and I'm not talking about memes). An outbreak at one of Umbrella's underground facilities results in the whole building being locked down.
A short while later, a paramilitary "clean up crew" arrives, along with a pair of amnesiac operatives, to investigate what happened at the facility, known as The Hive. Turns out the virus that got unleashed turns people into zombies, some of our heroes get bitten, and the rest have to try to save them as well as themselves, find sealed versions of the virus, and hopefully expose the Umbrella Corporation for its illegal activities.
Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, this action/horror/sci-fi flick has a lot of the hallmarks of early 2000s big budget filmmaking: glossy production value, hinted at/only briefly glimpsed gore, dodgy CGI, slow-motion bullet-firing a la THE MATRIX, and weak characterization. Other than Michelle Rodriguez (THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS) getting to be sarcastic as one of the crewmembers, none of the characters really show much personality. The star of the show (Milla Jovovich, THE FIFTH ELEMENT) plays one of our amnesiacs, so she spends most of the film not knowing who she is and occasionally breaking out some badass fight skills, BOURNE IDENTITY-style (though that's probably a coincidence, since the first BOURNE movie came out within the same year).
It's basically just a slick, dumb zombie movie, but I did enjoy the soundtrack (featuring nu metal luminaries such as Slipknot and Coal Chamber).

A Night to Dismember (salvaged footage version) *Youtube* So after posting my review of the “found” version of this piece of garbage a poster on one of the forums brought the originally released version of the movies being available on YouTube to my attention. This is the version that was cobbled together over the course of a few years after someone had either lost or vengefully destroyed three reels of film that had been shot. I guess it has Samantha Fox but again I wouldn’t know her to see her. This version is a complete wreck of bad editing, poorly shot, shitty SHITTY effects; not to mention completely random imagery and the entire thing with a voiceover that made it look and sound like an old school educational video. That was largely due to director Doris Wishman completing the film on her own “having recently learned the basic elements of film editing”. But it wasn’t even entertaining. The other version had that whacked out soundtrack and greasier film. Aside from the audio being so far out of sync (which I could honestly probably fix on my computer). I was just bored by this version. So I’m actually glad I got the version I wasn’t expecting. I guess I can’t blame the director for trying to salvage what she could out of the original far superior movie but upon seeing this she should have just cut her loses.

Gonna be October in a couple months and I will finally make use of that damn Amazon Prime subscription I paid for and binge various horror movies. I appreciate almost all of them in some way, even the really shitty ones help take a spot on my list.
