Back to the few pages debate ago (bear with me, just got back from a wedding and I'm slightly intoxicated; yes when I'm drunk I post about ponies):
I like Fluttershy in a starring role when it deals with one of two things:
1. Her ability to talk to the animals and be Dr. Pony Dolittle (A Bird in the Hoof is great for this)
2. When she has another of the mane 6 to work off of through the episode (Twi in ABitH, Rarity in Green Isn't Your Color, Rainbow Dash in Hurricane Fluttershy).
Otherwise she kinda falls flat for me. I think she's just more suited to being a supporting or co-starring character. And there's nothing wrong with that. Some characters just can't carry an episode by themselves.
Fluttershy IS my least favorite of the mane 6, but I still like her most of the time. Just that when she gets annoying she can REALLY get annoying. But when she has her moments, they can shine (Psychoshy in "Best Night Ever"). She's also the most "moe" of the main cast, which is why a lot of her defenders/fans can be especially obnoxious about it. And I just don't like moe characters that much usually.
