What if Taker never got injured back in 1999 during his Ministry of Darkness/Unholy Alliance days? Would the ABA incarnation ever come into fruition? Would his Ministry character continue into 2000?
Food for thought.

He got injured? I thought it was a sabbatical and there was some tension between him and Vince or something.

Ministry Taker was already gone at that point. The guy was in street clothes the majority of the time.

Part of the reason for Undertaker's sabbatical was to heal up some injuries, and the fact that he had ridden the Satanic character into the ground was also another reason.

There was a very...short lived time prior to Taker leaving in 99 where he still had the black hair and dark clothing, but he was wearing jeans and the bandana, and was still coming out to the Ministry music. Almost a hybrid Taker.
Also, remember when he wore the bandana under his hat just once in 2004? I think it was the week right after WM 20, but it was the only time he wore it. I wish he would have continued that...

I remember this as the period Big Show killed a snake and dragged a Harley across the desert. Good times.

Yeah your latter point is probably why, even without an injury, they would've taken him off tv and rebooted the character. In "This Is My Yard", which is probably the closest we'll see to a Taker shoot DVD, he basically said that he was tired of that dark character and it wasn't much fun for him anymore at that point.

I think I remember reading that he wanted the time off to heal up, and the gimmick change because he never liked being overtly satanic because of his faith.
Hence why it's never gone that dark again

He would have probably introduced Richard Simmons as his new mentor/manager/father, feuding with Bearer and Kane for the 85639th time.

i remember reading that the plan was for taker to face the big show at wrestlemania 2000 and that is easy to see with there alliance in 1999 PLUS we all know taker was going to return at royal rumble 2000 but got injured right before the ppv and im guessing he was coming back as the american bad ass at royal rumble 2000.
HOWEVER i did once read somewere that one plan was for it to be revealed that the undertaker was the one behind the big bossman's feud with big show and taker was going to flush the big show's fathers ashes down the toilet, and that would seem to say taker would still be in his evil ministry character but i don't know if that is even true, probley not since taker was ready for a change at the time.

It was injury, and he was supposed to be back by December or so but then suffered a serious groin injury that kept him out until May 2000.

I can see it now, Taker turns face and aligns with Vince. And somehow Steph would still be a heel for wanting revenge, for what they did to her.

Wasn't he supposed to return at Armageddon to feud with Triple H?

didn't Taker hate doing the satanic crap and want to get far away from it as soon as he could?
