Watched the ROH iPPV, and it looks like ROH has replaced their old 18x18 wrestling ring with cable ring ropes (same wrestling ring/rope combo as WCW, ECW, and TNA) for a 20x20 wrestling ring with actual ring ropes (like WWE).
Anyone else notice this? When did the change occur, and why?

I haven't caught any of the Sinclair shows. Do you guys, as fans, tend to prefer 18x18 rings or 20x20 rings? Cables or ropes? I tend to like the smaller rings with the cables just because it tends to look and sound better on TV. I know we have some workers on this board...which do you guys prefer?

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what kind of ropes the school I attend uses. They were a little tough to hit in the beginning, but I got used to them pretty quickly. Does that give any information?

18x18 just looks too damn tiny to me live and, I know this is petty but, unless you change the cable ropes often, they bend and warp which looks horrible. That drove me nuts during the HDNet shows.

Hmm...from the books I've read, namely Bret Hart's, the cables have the reputation of being tough to hit and will routinely slow down a wrestler rather than propel him or her.

That drove me nuts during the HDNet shows. That is VERY true. That used to drive me nuts as well. WCW was, and TNA is, very good at making sure bent and warped cable ropes don't make it on the air. As far as 18x18 rings looking tiny live, that is also true. Heck, WWE's 20x20 rings look extremely tiny live as well!

I typically prefer larger rings, myself.

Anyone remember the old 6 sides TNA house show rings? Those were so small tag matches looked silly.

Must be ropes, then, because it's easy to pick a lot of speed up running them.
