Sailor Art Thomas, one of the original "bodybuilder-type" of wrestlers from the 1960s & '70s. My dad used to tell me he was one of the biggest guys he's ever seen in person - and he was very popular. I seen a few matches of his on tape. Muscular guy without looking like he'd break in half; he had good body mass. He had presence. People loved him. I like guys like that. (Nothing against the Rick Rudes or Tony Atlases of the world, but I like my wrestlers to look solid.)

Nikita Koloff has to be up there. 6"3" massive shoulders......
Goldberg as well, he was the slightly bigger version of Nikita. 6"3" 6"4" huge traps and shoulders....

Bruno Sammartino surely must be up there? He always looked SO powerfull, like he could legit break people in half, without looking "roidy".

Both of the Road Warriors were unbelievably cut, but not freakishly muscular in the 1980s long before they ever came to the WWF(E). By the time they got their they lost a lot of the impressiveness of their physiques. Throwback's pic is from the era when Hawk (and Animal for that matter) were both really impressive. Also, John Morrison for what its worth is worth consideration in the modern era. Though I don't think anyone can compare to some guys from the 1980s. So off the top of my head I'll go with the 1980s Road Warriors. About the Road Warriors, its funny what different abilities can do. Hawk, while the better physique, could never lift as much as Animal.

Coming from a personal trainer, I'd go with Randy Orton as having the best body. He's got a great athletic build to him that most people, including myself, would kill for.
I've noticed a lot of steroid talk in this thread and it bothers me. I'm not stupid enough to believe that none of these guys used something to get bigger, but most people don't understand how good a person can look if they are willing to exercise and eat right. You may not get the look of Orton, Ziggler (another great body) or John Morrison, but you can look pretty damn good.

My problem with best physiques in wrestling history, is that most of the best belong to people who died young.
Guys like Hawk, Kerry Von Erich, Rick Rude, they had great bodies, but they all died young, due to number of different issues.

Earthquake Ferris wins this hands down.
Serious answer: Rude or Nikita

Hawk was heavy into drugs. All these guys had more serious habits than steroids.

Ironically(perhaps sadly), the most outstanding physiques, particularly among guys from the 1980s, were often associated with huge problems and died young somehow as a result.
Kerry Von Erich Rick Rude Davey Boy Smith Road Warrior Hawk
And, the guys whose bodies were on that level in the 1980s and yet managed to survive are much smaller and/or less ripped now.
Lex Luger Ultimate Warrior Paul Orndorff
It'll be interesting to see how younger guys like Chris Masters handle it as their careers progress. He's already smaller now than he once was.

Also, the natural big guys-Bruno Sammartino, The Crusher, even Sid Vicious seem to have aged better than those who (presumably) used steroids, HGH, etc.
BTW-Sid played high school basketball in West Memphis Arkansas in the late 70's. Even then his physique was amazing. I don't know for sure that he never used steroids, but if he did, it wasn't because he needed them to get that big. The guy was just naturally gifted.

Von Erich-Drugs alcohol and suicide Hawk-Drug and alcohol problems Davey Boy- Drug and alcohol problems. Let's not play into all the media hype. Yes most of these guys did steroids, but they were also on heavy duty painkillers, street drugs and drank plenty of alcohol. Let's not play up one thing and downplay the other just because Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens have been all over ESPN for the last few years.

I think Dynamite Kid deserves some mention also. One of the most unnatural physiques in wrestling history. 220-225 pounds of solid muscles on such a small frame. No wonder that guy has the problems he has now. He did everything to the extreme.

My money is on Rick Rude, he always had low body fat and high muscularity, without looking completely like a jacked up bodybuilder type. Great minds think alike! i saw the thread name and before i even clicked into it, rick rude was the first guy i thought of.
