Yea yea, go ahead and get your jokes out of the way b/c of the title.
Anyway, I turned on Impact tonight and this was the first thing I saw. And my god, it was one of the stupidest things I've seen in recent years. Kurt Angle, dressed up like a cowboy (funny enough, not the first time he's done that), kicked like 4 people's ass inside of a bar. Then picks them up, puts them in their bar stools, and kicks their ass some more. Then casually cuts a promo on James Storm.
WTF?
I'm sorry, I know I'm supposed to suspend disbelief, but good lord...that was painful.
Oh and on a side note, did anybody else have audio problems during the main event? It started for me when they came back from commercial and it never went away. It was like watching a streaming video on a slow internet connection. Other channels worked just fine.

when I send Kurt in the cowboy hat, these sigments came to mind: Umm, you gotta remove those clips. Any youtube vids with WWE footage not from WWEFanNation isn't allowed. I don't mean to be harsh. Just looking out for ya.

I thought it was funny and entertaining, in a silly way. C'mon, it's Kurt Angle dressed like a Sherrif kicking ass in a bar. How can you not like that?! And I normally dislike TNA's nonsensical booking/segments.

I don't see any point of making the heel funny hence draw sympathy from the crowd. Angle beating people from Storm's town is not gonna make us mad at him. TNA has enormous difficulty at drawing heat and coming up with ideas to generate feuds between heels and faces. They are so incompetent that they fill the crowd with plants and use noise machines to boo and cheer to make sure the viewer get an idea who's the heel and who's the face.

I thought it was the most entertaining Kurt Angle has been in years. But then, I think Kurt Angle's at his best when he's right on the edge of goofy comedy heel/deranged psychotic heel.

Wow, I also caught this right during that segment. It happened right after Beavis & Butthead ended, so I saw that TNA was on and that's what I got!

I thought this thread would be a joke. Like "Kurt Angle, an alcoholic and a steroid user walks into a bar. The bartender asks what Kurt would like to have."

My problem with it is that Kurt hasn't done any comedy in so long that it felt out of character.

one of tna's worst segments in 2011 Yes it was I think it completely failed at being funny or putting over the match, and the fact that Eric Young's date with ODB and the Knockout fake match segments were much worse really shows just how bad this episode was. About the only thing good about Kurt's bar scene was TAZ being unsure if he was sending a message to James Storm.

The thing is, I wasn't under the impression that it was supposed to be funny. Isn't the Angle/Storm feud supposed to be serious?

My audio was all screwed up too during the 2nd half of the main event. I eventually had to mute it.
Seeing Angle dressed like a cowboy in his tiny hat was amusing, but the segment itself was just too bad for words.

I can't say i was a fan of it. But then I've never really liked those kind of completely ridiculous things. Kurt arranges with Impact to remote broadcast from a bar in Tennessee at the exact time when they are taping their weekly show? The whole point of suspension of disbelief is that a fictional segment has to be "believable." In other words, the audience has to think this COULD really happen. These kind of segments are just too far fetched to buy into. There is a fine line between goofy/funny and unbelievable/stupid.
Why couldn't Kurt just approach Storm in the ring and insult him or his heritage or the town? Surely Kurt has the verbal ability to do that.

I cracked up laughing big time but for different reasons. I am just trying to figure out the rationale behind Angle doing that in the first place. It's like "Yeah, I'll teach my enemy! I am going to go to his hometown and beat up rednecks in a bar!" If I'm Storm I'd be like "Um, so?" It's not like any of those goofs were Storm's relatives or personal friends (that we know of) so it made zero sense. Further, why wouldn't the cops now be after Angle?
