I'm pumped. Shame I gotta go to a wedding tonight! ARGH! Oh, and I know I'm in the minority here, but from what I've seen (all of the new series thus far, and one story from each of the first 5 Doctors) my favorite Doctor is Chris Eccleston. *dodges tomatoes*

I'm really excited for this series, because The Master might be back and The Doctor rides a triceratops! The Master's coming back? I hadn't heard anything about that, awesome! The Doctor dropped his name during a speech in the trailer that was released a while back, apart from the usual rumours I can't think of any other indicator he'll be back.

Oh, and I know I'm in the minority here, but from what I've seen (all of the new series thus far, and one story from each of the first 5 Doctors) my favorite Doctor is Chris Eccleston. *dodges tomatoes* I'd agree to a great extent, other Doctors have come and gone, but I think Ecceleston underrated in the fact that he steered a franchise that'd essentially become a pop-cultural punchline (somewhat unfairly, considering McCoy's later series was a high sci-fi as it generally comes, but the JNT era had done its damage) in its dormant years, to a viable, lucrative piece of Saturday night drama. I mean, we all knew Who had so much going on underneath the wonky walls and gaudy special effects before its revival, but it's nothing short of incredible what Eccleston, Davies and Piper did to resurrect the brand, and bring its true assets to the fore. Yay, it's starting in two minutes. And I'm gone.........

I swear, Moff could rival Whedon for Mary Sue female characters.

As bad as the Ponds may get, it'll never be as Sue or Poochie-ish as Rose was.

As bad as the Ponds may get, it'll never be as Sue or Poochie-ish as Rose was. The difference with her, I always found, was that although she was important and made to be even more so at the end of that first series, she always took the back seat to the actual adventure of the Doctor in that weeks episode. There was the over arching themes and the love story and such, but the episodes were either about both of them, or about the Doctor with her keeping him grounded. She didnt take over the show and be more of a hero than he was. She might have pulled off some wins, or contributed, but she didnt just know the plan and have all the confidence, nor was she as arrogant or as a selfish as Pond is.

{Spoiler}So, what does everyone think of Oswin? Pretty sure she'll be back. I guess it counts as a spoiler {Spoiler}It was confirmed a while ago that she is the new post Pond companion. So yeah, definitely going to be back, unless that whole story and report was a massive lie/trick

Something about Rose, I can't put my finger on it, really rubbed me the wrong way, and her triumphant return in series 4 really gave me a "Triple H butting into the storyline" feeling, but again, everybody responds to the companions differently. Donna is still probably my favorite companion of the new series, and yes, I know everyone came back for that finale, but the treatment of Rose seemed sooooo much more "special"-emphasizing.

Donna is still probably my favorite companion of the new series, and yes, I know everyone came back for that finale, but the treatment of Rose seemed sooooo much more "special"-emphasizing. Because it was, because she was the long lost, supposedly gone forever love interest. It was sappy, but it fit the end of that story and gave him the break from her he needed before he went off to die in the specials, as well as giving her her own Doctor to go be happy with. RTD pushed her hard, but it worked for me, because I didn't mind the love story, which was certainly better than the pathetic 'not love story' with Martha or the way Pond totally loves him, but will settle for Rory and dress that up as love when it suits her, like in today's episode.

No spoilers, loved the episode. The music reminded me a lot of Two Steps from Hell, though.

Although it would be pretty surreal if they actually kept her as a Dalek and STILL have her as a companion. Doubt they'do that.
