You need discipline, that's all it is. No more soda, beer, anything that doesn't supply actual nutrients. Fast food has to go. When you see an escalator/elevator take the stairs and get yourself on a four day and one and a half hour minimum gym schedule. Working out is a whole different subject, educate yourself on what you want and set serious goals. Oh, and lots of water, take a serious multivitamin (the kind you'd find spread out into six pills at like a GNC) and start drinking a gallon of water a day. Six months of this routine alone and you'll see a change.

Six months of this routine alone and you'll see a change. A gallon of water , isnt that a bit of overkill ? I have multi vitamins prescribed from the doctor- would make a difference if i took more?

I havent smoked a single cigarette since Tuesday, I can honestly say I dont miss em. The habit is broken. Will be heading in to the gym a little later today. Also began properly dieting a few days ago. This is honestly going to be my last time attempting weight loss, I will succeed once and for all. My current plan is to work out on my own for the next 3 months, then start some program ( leaning towards cross fit), any suggestion would be helpful Just a warning, people usually gain weight when they stop smoking, because they eat more without having the oral fixation of a cigarette. By nature I am very very tiny, I have never had to diet or watch what I eat, if I wanted to completely stop doing anything physical without gaining a pound I could, but when I tried to stop smoking I went from 96lbs to 104lbs in a week, haha -- started smoking again right away ;D Just a warning that quitting smoking could put a dip in any progress you have made with weight loss.

Six months of this routine alone and you'll see a change. Or just take them in moderation, and go out for a run for 20-30 minutes 3 or 4 days a week. You'll still see results and not have to go to such extreme levels.

I wouldn't consider it an extreme..this is actually my current lifestyle and I don't really consider myself in amazing shape. Sorry, but twenty or thirty minutes at a time on a treadmill will not cut it, at least if want to see real results. I'm not telling you to kill yourself at the gym, but a run at the gym followed by a mile or two walk every couple of days wouldn't kill you. The gallon of water, which might seem like a lot initially, will boost your metabolism and will help you lose ten pounds in a year alone for doing absolutely nothing. As for vitamins I take a multi-pack..I can't say it's for everybody but it helps for me personally.

Just read this whole thread so far, and it sounds like you're on the right track. Congrats on quitting smoking, Evil Homer.
I'm in a place as well where I'm looking to lose a bunch of weight (at least 50 more pounds). In high school I went from about 270 to 220 doing a low carb diet and then gained it all back and then some in college when I moved out and ate nothing but terrible frozen foods. A couple years ago I completely cut out soda (I was drinking A LOT of Mountain Dew) and gradually went from 315 at my heaviest to about 290 over a couple years by just doing that. I went to the gym for a year or so, granted due to my schedule I could only really go maybe once or twice a week, but I never really any results. I recently rejoined a gym and am going to start going soon. But the only time I ever lost a significant amount of weight was in high school when I did low carb, so thats what I'm doing again. In July I started and I'm gone from 290 to 270 presently. A lot of chicken. A LOT of chicken. I'll cook up a three pound back at the beginning of the week, chop it all up and put about a cup in a small baggy and then freeze the baggies. Then during the week for lunch or dinner I'll toss a bag in the microwave so its faster to prepare during the week then having to wait for chicken to cook. I'll use a lot of Mrs. Dash seasonings (no salt) they have a lot of different flavors, lemon, southwest chipolte, the straight up chicken seasoning is pretty darn good. Also vinagrettes that are low-cal, low fat. Cookin up some chicken, puttin some seasoning on it, and then drizzling some vinagrette on top is pretty darn delicious in itself. If I get in the mood for pizza, I'll put some pasta sauce on some chicken and put a little cheese on top. If I want some Mexican, I'll cook up some onion and green pepper and toss it in the chicken with the southwest chipotle Mrs. Dash, maybe some hot sauce, and some Mexican blend cheese. I've gotten pretty creative with chicken. Eggs are pretty versatile and delicious as well. Snack on some low-salt dry roasted peanuts (the no salt ones are too bland for me, but feel free to try them out). When I was in high school I bought a snow cone maker and would make a bowl of shaved ice. I wouldn't put any syrup on it or anything, I would basically just eat a bowl of shaved ice ... may sound weird but that was always delicious.
A friend of mine lost about a hundred pounds changing his diet, watching his calorie intake, and being incredibly motivated at the gym. He got some award for going to the gym every single day for a year. I just can't get myself that motivated, but if you're motivated enough to do a routine where you're working out every single day, I can PM you his routine. Let me know.
Also, my cousin lost a ton of weight doing the lap band surgery. She could still eat a fair amount of what she wanted but the portions were tiny. And the way it works, just eating that tiny amount, she's totally full. And it was definitely a gradual weight loss, maybe a hundred or so over at least a year. I know you said you didn't want to go the surgery route, but that lap band definitely works if that was a route you wanted to go.
Keep up the good work, keep up the updates. Take a before and after picture so you can make a video like that guy you posted (That transformation was wild!) You're definitely not alone, there's plenty of people hear at the FAN trying to do the same thing you are. We can all keep each other motivated for sure!
If you don't mind sharing, what's your height/weight? I'm about 6'4", 275 currently.

Im 5'6 261 lbs, 26 years old, If I may share my past story- Back in 2006 I decided I had enough of being overweight, and I started my journey. At the time I was working two physically active jobs, I joined a gym- My first time ever stepping foot at a gym. I knew nothing about working out at all, I started on the treadmill- worked out on that for a few days, then started on the eliptical. I became addicted to the eliptical and it soon became my weapon of choice. 1.5 to 2 hrs, 4 times a week in addition to working 60-70 hours a week . I had started doing atkins, without any cheating. I ate eggs in the morning, with cheese. I drank their shakes and ate lots and lots of subway salads. Eventually became addicted to salad. My starting weight was 240 lbs, dropped to 205 in only 6 weeks . I Was doing great up to that point. Buts soon after, I turned of legal drinking age- and partied hard for a few years, started an office job- and started smoking. It was downhill from there. The atkins/low carb diet works great, but I honestly don't believe its something that I could do again. eating just shave ice doesent sound weird to me at all, i used to eat ice cubes when getting the urge to eat anything un healthy. I'll certainly check out the seasoning you mentioned. Surgery for me would a be the last resort, I don't feel Im quite there yet. I feel I am physically up to the challenge of doing the work in the gym,and fix my diet. Please PM your friends routine. I am currently in the process of heading to California in a month or so, I will return home for Wrestlemania. An by then wanna be under 200 lbs. you mentioned you work? can you save up for surgery? it will be expensive but totally worth it if it's what you really want, surgery can also remove the moobs and excess skin as well. Yeah, but then we're just gonna keep getting threads where people ask why Evil Homer was posting in a black tracksuit for a few weeks.
