To counter the thread of those who changed their appearance for the worst, what WWF/E superstar changed their appearance(be it haircut, attire, surgery) for the better? Here's a few... Rocky Maivia to The Rock - We all know him as The Most Electrying Man in Sports Entertainment, The Great One, a 7 time WWF/E champion, and a surefire Hall of Famer. However, many don't(or choose not to) remember his rough start in the World Wrestling Federation. In honor of his grandfather(Peter Maivia) and his father(Rocky Johnson), Dwayne Johnson took the first and last names of the previous generations to call himself Rocky Maivia. Not only did the former CFLer have a hard time getting adjusted to the ever changing landscape of the WWF, his attire and pineapple haircut didn't do him any favors. After losing the IC title to Owen Hart, he suffered an injury. Little did he or anyone else know, it was a blessing in disguise, as he came back, he turned heel as well as joining the Nation of Domination to spew out the venom he got from the fans. As the months went on, his persona grew, and with his potential too great to look past, he usurped Faarooq from The NOD and proclaimed himself The Ruler of the Nation. Later that year, he became WWF champion(yes I know I'm fast-forwarding), and eventually become one of the greatest of all time with this signature look. This to me is the biggest example of someone changing their appearance for the better. Chyna also went from masculine looking to pleasant during her time in DX, and even better when she was posing for Playboy. Anybody you can think of?

Steve Austin shaving his head. Not that he didn't look alright with hair, but him being bald just works. Also, Randy Orton shaving his head and getting the sleeves got rid of the "douche" look that I always thought he had while in Evolution and all that.

Cena ditching the Vanilla Ice-lite persona into the "Never give up" Cena. yeah we criticize him and the rapper gimmick was fun but it something he NEEDED to drop for anybody to take him seriously.

Yes because people take him way more seriously know that he wears jorts , makes poopy jokes and wears shirts that look like Jim Henson puked up a rainbow on acid.

Put this in the wrong thread.
Up until he hit the awkward yellow caution phase I think every change made by Owen Hart was an improvement.

Jeff Jarrett from the New Generation to Attitude Era.
Dropped the dated frilly attire and neon sun glasses (although I used to love them) and morphed into a serious looking wrestler.

Not to mention he was absolutely nothing like Vanilla Ice and was booked and taken as a legitimate threat to the Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle and the rest of the main event scene during this run

this is only tangentially related to the topic, but Rock's "$500 dollar shirt" with the gigantic lion on it is one of my favorite things ever

I agree that the rapper gimmick needed to be dropped. His gimmick might be different. His merchandise might be different, but his actual LOOK was still pretty much the same. Yes because people take him way more seriously know that he wears jorts , makes poopy jokes and wears shirts that look like Jim Henson puked up a rainbow on acid. Not to mention he was absolutely nothing like Vanilla Ice and was booked and taken as a legitimate threat to the Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle and the rest of the main event scene during this run As a heel lost to all of those guys. He pretty much lost to anyone of consequence, and the only guys I really remember him beating decisively were Brian Kendrick and Bryan Danielson (then only a "local jobber"). His momentum didn't really change until he turned face.

The Miz changing to tights, and then later on to his new hairstyle. No f***ing way. Fedora, shorts, armwarmers, muscle shirt, mohawk.... he looked fantastically douchey. In fact I plan to dress up like that myself some time in the not too distant future.

In fact I plan to dress up like that myself some time in the not too distant future. Agreed that the fedora, and armwarmers should have stayed and become amalgamated into his current look. But I think the shorts and the mohawk/fauxhawk would've been out of place as he got older and rose up the ranks. Even before he had his slicked back hairstyle, the fauxhawk was less pronounced than it previously was.

Best look change in the history of the business is surfer dude Sting to crow Sting. Not WWE/F, but that was such an amazing image change.
