Ryback from WWE has fans and is basically a Goldberg clone. Why can't Rob Terry be a star 5 years down the track? He has a good look and isn't dangerous in the ring. Batista was made into a massive star just from having a good bodybuilders physique. Well, to be fair, Batista had other factors working in his favor. Immediately being associated with Flair and HHH probably didn't hurt. Rob Terry's being associated with....Robbie E. One of these things is not like the other. Yeah, you don't see HHH or Flair on The List, bro.

Well he could hardly say in the interview that he was content being mid-card, doesn't want to improve or climb the ranks and is content to stay in his current position.
I very much doubt he'll ever be the face of the company either, but having that as a goal to work towards can only be a good thing, as long as he doesn't start demanding to be there and causing trouble backstage.

Umm..I don't think it's appropriate to criticize a guy for having ambitions. While he may be a long way now from being "the face of TNA", He's certainly got one of greatest physiques I've ever seen in the business.
He may or may not be "on the juice" but you simply can't roid up to 6'5" and the wide frame like he has. He is physically gifted in a way 95% of wrestlers WISH they were.
And, he was hysterical in the recent episode of "The List" with Robbie E and Tara. He had almost no lines, and yet his character was very entertaining-easily on par with the other two performers.
Bottom Line(with apologies to Stone Cold): He is more likely than a lot of guys to some day be the face of TNA, and I admire his dedication and ambition. Without ambition, you can guarantee you'll never get to the top of whatever profession you're in.

Looking at all the responses, I don't think anyone's criticizing him for having ambition and a goal in mind to work towards. It's good for him to have aspirations to work hard and do better. We're pretty much pointing out how unrealistic those aspirations are and how he might not achieve them, not slagging him for wanting to do that well. It's going to take him a ton of work to get to that level, and not all of it will be bodybuilding-related. Hopefully he knows that.

Batista started out as a sidekick to Reverend D-Von. So...like, I dunno you can't have a worse start than that

Good on you, Big Rob. Reach for that brass ring.
When you first turned up, I hated you. You had a cool look but couldn't emote anything beyond big serious mean guy and were absolute garbage in the ring.
Now, I look forward to seeing you. You're excellent as a straightman/comedic foil with Robbie E and "The List" is easily one of the best out of ring things going in TNA.
I'd still prefer to keep your ring time to a minimum, but I have begun to care about you. Keep working at it.

Terry as the face of TNA is just begging for another government inquiry.

I met him after the TNA house show in Manchester in 2010 (days after he won the Global title) and he seemed like a humble and decent person, happy to talk to people, sign autographs and appreciated talking to the fans.
As a person he deserves to make a name for himself, he just needs to improve on certain aspects of his ring work. That's obvious. But a few years down the line, anything is possible.

Every wrestler should have this goal, so I can't really fault him there.
That said, he has a long, long...long way to go. Batista actually had some degree of talent.

Ehhh it took Batista several years to get it. Check the archives circa 2005 for threads complaining about how terrible Batista was. Most `crappers didn't appreciate Batista until his diva heel run.

The first thing I thought when I read the OP was "damn, that Homicide chair shot he took did more damage than we all realised."

I won't rip into the man for having a goal like that. If you don't want to be "the guy" for whatever territory you wrestler for you shouldn't be there. However, I don't see it happening.

I don't have a problem with this.
I don't think it's terribly realistic, but that's exactly what he should be thinking. At the same time, he's not pretending he's too good for his current role (which, FYI, he's been AMAZING in as of late)
I approve of his ideas and wish to subscribe to his newsletter.

You're always just one good storyline away from being a main eventer in wrestling. No matter who you are or what your record is/was.
Have seen it way too many times with too many unlikely people to say "It's never going to happen"
