Given the WWE has been PG for almost all of it's lifetime, most WWF/E fans have enjoyed it at some point /pedantic

Even though this blog paints PG in a good light, I still feel the need to point out that there is no such thing as "The PG Era".

Whilst I feel the PG element has a lot to answer for, I personally think the WWF becoming a publicly traded company is a vastly overlooked starting point for what the product has boiled down to.

Outside of the "F*** PG!! ATTITUDE ERA IS TEH BEST!!" comments on Youtube, I think most fans enjoy PG wrestling when it's done right.
I know I do.

The problem is that we have PG wrestling in the 'Attitude' era clothing. PG worked, as it did, in the 80s and early 90s. PG flopped when they tried to be 'too cool for school' in the mid-90s.
It's like I've got nothing against a curry but serve it to me in a pizza box, I'm not likely to be too pleased.
The whole television and product is structured around what was build during the attitude era. You can't largely adhere to that exact same structure in the PG era. Same as you couldn't have done the Attitude era the way the company and television was structured back in the 80s.
It's like a horror movie franchise that after the fifth instalment decides to become a Harry Potter rival to appeal to the 9 year olds, but it's still basing itself around the horror genre - only nothing scary or violent every happens anymore because it's now a kids show. That's what WWE is like today.

Yes an all new generation significantly less focused and observant on the product then before and no you aren't the only who likes Pg wrestling plenty of people do but those are the same people who enjoy Nickleback and Michael Bay films.
You've essentially replaced a million hard working grown men with million hyperactive vapid self-absorbed children.
It's not a step up.

Good article, and I agree.
But stop asking "Am I the only one who..." when you KNOW you're not. It's beyond annoying.

Even though this blog paints PG in a good light, I still feel the need to point out that there is no such thing as "The PG Era". I'm pretty sure that even most of the people in WWE call this the PG era. The only eras that have been really been specifically named as far as I'm aware, were the New Generation and Attitude eras.

I wouldn't say I have a problem with PG. What I do have a problem with is there seems to be so little heals can do to get heat and not have people complain about it nowadays.

I don't perhaps care for it, but it's preferrable to the alternative where everyone's calling each other "f***ing f***faces" and every woman in the company has roughly zero non-bedroom talent of any sort.
To me, you ideally want to hang back in the middle. You can keep it clean as a rule, but it's difficult for heels to get heat if they can't ever do anything that's more than just kind of bad.
The WWE right now, I don't know. It almost feels like they could run it with a laugh track it gets so bubbly stupid.

I can't tell you how much I despise the "ZOMG TEH ATTITODE EAR IS TEH BEST EVER PG SUX CENA SUX PG LIL JIMMIES DUNT NO BOUT REAL WRESTLING ATTITUDE TV-14!!1!" comments on YouTube. It's such bullshit. It's funny though when its on a WWF video from mid 97-early 98, when the WWF was still PG, or any SD video from the Attitude Era, since Smackdown has always been PG.
I think I'd like the blood back. Maybe a little more violent on occasion. I love not having Bra & Panties matches every week. Though, I'd imagine they'd might let Alicia Fox wear something more revealing if it wasn't PG, but I can't be sure. That'd be good...

You aren't. I like the actual wrestling recently. The actual wrestling, especially on PPV, has been consistently great this year. There hasn't been a PPV all year that hasn't had at least 2, if not 3, good to great matches on it... Royal Rumble: Punk v Ziggler, Royal Rumble Elimination Chamber: Both Elimination Chamber matches WrestleMania: Triple H v Undertaker, Punk v Jericho, Rock v Cena Extreme Rules: Lesnar v Cena, Punk v Jericho, Sheamus v Bryan Over The Limit: Punk v Bryan, Sheamus v Orton v Del Rio v Jericho No Way Out: Punk v Bryan v Kane, Sheamus v Ziggler, PTP v Usos v Colons v Kidd/Gabriel Money In The Bank: Both Money In The Bank matches, Punk v Bryan SummerSlam: Punk v Cena v Big Show, Jericho v Ziggler Night Of Champions: Orton v Ziggler, Punk v Cena, Miz v Mysterio v Rhodes v Sin Cara

I don't care if it's PG or TV-MA. I just want to see an entertaining show.

I prefer my PG to be a hard PG. The rep the "PG era" got was when the WWE was trying to make it a G rated show plus shot and holds to the head.

I grew up in the Hulkamania era and if you asked me what my favorite type of wrestling to watch is I'd say "old school". There's nothing wrong with a family friendly product, there IS something wrong with an uninspired, bland product, parental rating be damned. That's what WWE is like today. This is a point I've made before, and I'm glad you made it, too. The whole "open the show with a 20 minute promo to set up a 'shocking!' tag team main event" thing has GOT to go, for example. You're not competing against Nitro anymore, stop presenting your product as if you are.
