I'm surprised they didn't shoehorn Michelle McCool and Layla as co-Women's champions on here just to get Michelle on another list.

What was so "odd" about Kofi & Punk I was wondering the same thing. According to the wwe.com article in the OP.... Oh yeah, I can totally see Punk walking around in real life in some zin-like trance who speaks in riddles and never displays any emotion. Kofi on the otherhand is just some batshit guns blazing lunatic who can't be contained.

According to this Triple H & Austin may not be such an odd pairing in terms of star power
I mean I like Triple H, but that's just not true

Undertaker and Kane, RVD and Kane, Mankind and Kane, Hurricane and Kane. All insane. All ended badly.

I guess with Kofi and Punk it was just a completly random tag team with no build up or segments together and extremly random in retrospect. More people were interested in a Miz and Morrison vs. Drum Time match than Kofi and Punk vs. Legacy for the tag team championship in one PPV.

I'm surprised Kane is only on there twice.

I was kinda pissed when I saw Kane & X-Pac (my favorite tag team of all time) in the no. 3 spot. I was like, "Who the f*** would be ahead of these two?" Then I saw no. 2, and no. 1, and was like, "Okay, you got me there."

That should definitely be in place of Punk & Kofi.

That should definitely be in place of Punk & Kofi. And higher up in the ranks, it was a good example of this recycled storyline turning out good.

MVP/Hardy & Haas/Rico deserve spots.
But damn...that's a perfect Top 2.

Random pairings suck for tag team wrestling IMO. It's almost like taking away the weight limit for the lightweight division and just letting any wrestler compete for the belt. Tag teams were for tag team wrestlers, not two good wrestlers slapped together with nothing in common. But Vince fought against and killed that notion

But Vince fought against and killed that notion True but Vince's way you'd avoid always have 'the Jannetty' stigma when/if the team splits up down the road. But yeah, a good way around ramming together two over singles guys is to create odd couple tag teams from scratch. Like Jesse and Festus-- they both could've been believable as singles Superstars even though they were debuted as a tag team. Don't think J and F ever got the titles, iirc
