I used to not care. It was a nice addition. However, I've noticed ever since I joined Steam that I'm kinda less enthused about games that don't have any Steam achievements. Then again, I still play the crap out of them (putting about 70 hours into Terraria thus far).
So far the only game I've fully completed achievements for was Saints Row The Third, before DLC at least.

I used to try to play every game I played, but I stopped caring as I play less. If it's easy enough to do so, I'll still play, but I don't do multiplayer ones typically.

They're cool to achieve but I don't feel like I HAVE TO achieve them all. Some of them seem impossible even for me or just absurd to try to achieve.

OK, so here are my PSN stats: ![](http://fp.profiles.us.playstation.com/playstation/psn/pid/mcgi0223.png) So it would be fair for me to say I care about them a good amount. For me, it's an incentive to replay games I already have as opposed to shelling out money for a new game. As a result I've gotten a lot of replay out of games I probably would've been done with a lot sooner. However, I have limits with this sort of stuff - some of them I'll just throw my hands up and say "screw that" to it (looking at you, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2). So I'm not completely obsessed with getting EVERY SINGLE one possible...just the ones I think I can realistically get.

I like them. If done right, they can get you to try different strategies in the game.
I do not, however, like multi-player achiements, especially if I'm playing on older game with a completely dead online community, or if they feel tacked on in a single player game.

If it is for a game I like and want a reason to play it more, they are great. If it is a game that is a chore to play, they can suck it.

Once they're easy to get, I more than likely try my hardest to get all but things like "Win 5 ranked matches in a row" trophies will never be mine.

One thing I don't like is that it seems like games add collecting quests to be able to add 10 or so achievements/trophies. That seems like a lazy strategy for them, and I think there are several games that wouldn't have things like that without trophies.

Slightly off topic, but I wonder if Nintendo is planning with the WiiU to have their own achievement/trophy system.
Personally, I like getting them, but I do wish they had a use beyond bragging rights (points for DLC purchases, perhaps?)

Man, if I could cash in my achievement points for DLC, I would do so in a heartbeat, and never have to spend a dime on digital purchases again. Which...come to think of it, is probably why they don't do it.

That Wii U would have a achievements system, that the points from the achievements could be used to buy online skins and etc. But nintendo never said anything about that,so it is probably a lie

They're cool, but I'm not one of those people who needs all or even half of them for every game I play.
I think what they're best for is giving you some sort of gauge as to your completion of the game, because most games don't tell you how much (%, like GTA) you've completed.

For all of you waggin' your trophy penises around. Level 18 or 19. 18 platinums, 3600 total trophies.

Not at all. Like if you can collect 'em over the course of going about the adventure- cool; but for me once the story's done, I'm done. Same here.

They're pointless and I don't really care about them much. I think I have two platinums, and each time it was because I had already gotten all but one trophy I needed just through a normal play of the game. I'd rather get in-game content to unlock for doing difficult or unusual tasks.
