This is very similar to the circumstances that brought Vince Russo into the writing staff for Raw in 1997 which led to the Attitude Era.
Hopefully this change can bring about success like that did

Holy s***. They must seriously be freaking out, Gerwitz has been there forever. Now I'm really curious about Vince's announcement tonight. "I have an announcement: The plane carrying Brian Gerwirtz was shot down over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors." Will we refer to this now as being Gerwirtzed instead of McLeaned

Just pay Heyman whatever he wants to write a three hour show, done.

Paul Heyman is already backstage, WWE. Have Punk GTS him right into the writer's room.

"You know what this show needs? More HHH!" Seriously, the writing isn't the problem. Burning out your audience with a three hour show is the problem. Although I wouldn't complain if they put Paul Heyman in charge.

I wonder if he'll still script the Rock's promos? Supposedly he was the only guy the Rock trusted to do them during his run last year.

Dear Vince, I really really really hope this means opening and closing segments without AJ. Put her in a divas feud or something, please stop centering the narrative around her. Sincerely, kidglov3s Stop acting like that doesn't happen with every Raw GM. Case and point. Bischoff, Ace, Robo-GM

Nothing against Gerwitz, who I don't think is as bad as a lot of people say, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. For the longest time, the WWE has been a product of an environment it was no longer in. The Attitude Era was a product of the WWF having to survive against WCW and having to be edgier to fit in with the cultural landscape. Everything from the backstage skits, the heel authority figures, the same rehashed storylines (tag partners who hate each other), the same old booking styles, everything has been more or less the same for a LONG time. WCW isn't around anymore and the cultural landscape is different now. Things should have changed a long time ago.
I have no idea what form it should take, or what direction the WWE should move in, but for the WWE to reach their former success, or dare I say, "new boom period," there has to be a MASSIVE format change, to the point where the product is nearly unrecognizable from the past several years.

The thing is that Raw has had basically one vision since forever. Gewertz as the head writer, Dunn as the director, and Vince as Executive producer. It is what has made Raw so predictable for years now. I am not someone that ever puts down Raw, but the fact that only 2 moments over the last 3 years (Nexus invasion and Punk's speech) have caused any buzz shows that something needs to change to make it more exciting.
It's just that TV shows need different writers and directors to spice things up from time to time. Even Larry David wouldn't have had enough ideas to write EVERY SINGLE episode of Seinfeld, they had lots of other writers. Everyone will run out of ideas eventually.

Supposedly Vince McMahon himself made the call for her big push to begin with.

The Anonymous GM was a great performer? Michael Cole reading the e-mails sure was. "May I have your attention please! I have just received an e-mail from the anonymous general manager." What a douchebag. Also those guys being obnoxious and overused worked a little better because they were heels. You were supposed to hate them not be fawning over them and hoping they would overcome the odds.

Did we just achieve time travel with those last two posts?
Also, Raw just got a lot more interesting.
