This week in spoilers: Wonder Woman #13 and the last page of Red Hood #13 got spoiled by DC and a distributor, respectively: {Spoiler} Ares being dead is an interesting twist. he's the closest thing Wondy had to an arch-enemy before. mind, he looked/acted completely different before too.
as for the Red Hood spoiler, it's not much of a spoiler without any context. Not to mention {Spoiler}Jason is mentioned, alive and well, in other solicits for months from now, so it's unlikely to mean he's dead, or dying - especially being that his title continues past the next round of DC cancellations.

Marvel Now Point One wasnt bad.
I didnt really care much for the Sam Fury story, nor the Forge story but YA and GotG interested me, but then I was always going to get those two.
Nova.......clearly they do actually have an explanation for him and why he is around, but it not being Rich is just irking me as a big fan of Rich.
The Scott Lang story was the biggest surprise for me here. I had very little hope for that series as being nothing but silliness. I was wrong. Fraction brought his serious face, but still told a fun story. I am more interested in that book now than I was before, and as such the .1 did it's job in that it convinced me to try a book I wasnt going to before in FF.

I'm curious as to what that final page (the one telling you which comics to pick up with the ruined city in the background) is leading up to.

Rumours are it's next summers big event and that it's Cosmic in nature, and for a change is everyone against a big bad rather than each other!
People are suggesting it's a Badoon Invasion, although that would be rather too similar to Secret Invasion (just without the secret), others are suggesting Thanos is coming looking for the Infinity Gems (being that they are on Earth) and still more suggest it isnt anything to do with anything cosmic and it's simply Ultron War promoted from mini series to cross over event.
We'll see come next March/April when publicity ramps up.

I'm wondering if it relates to that vision Steve Rogers had of the future at the end of Captain America: Reborn, even though that seems to be highly unlikely.

It's possible not that you mention it.
I'd always assumed it was a flash to the 'future' of Killraven, which the Avengers visited in the post Siege arc because of the large alien machine things that were like the alien ones he's fought, but yeah, that is a really interesting possibility.

I think it's the Ultron story Bendis has been doing, as some have pointed out the ruins look very Bryan Hitch

So i've just started reading comics, only really been reading TPB/Graphic novels (haven't got the income to get in to buying single issues at the moment) So far I've read Batman Volume 1 : The court of the owls which was absolutely awesome, I can't wait for volume 2. I also read Batman a death in the family which I found in a pile of my dads old comics, found it ok, average at best, everything that happened in it seemed far too coincidental for me to suspend my disbelief and it just seemed to be lacking something) also read the killing joke which I felt had fantastic artwork and explored some interesting themes but I was actually more interested in the "an innocent guy" short at the end of the book.
also read Ultimate spiderman #1 which I really liked the humor of. Got volume 1 of Buffy season 8 as well but yet to read it. been reading tank girl finding that funny, but its a bit hard to read because its in black and white
anyone got any recomendations on what I should read next? what older batman TPB/Graphic novels are worth a look in to? and which of the other batman variations in the new 52 should I bother with? what are Kevin Smiths comics like? I'm a huge fan of his fims.

Well you can give Nu52 Batman&Robin a go and it may not be Batman but Animal Man and Swamp Thing are good books if you feel like branching out from the typical cape stories.

in terms of Kevin Smith the only truly great comic he ever wrote, IMO was his work on Green Arrow. I thought him killing off Karen Page was mean-spirited, he couldn't be bothered to finish his Bullseye mini (which made the character off limits to writers who would've actually done something with him) and his retcon regarding Black Cat's origin was abominable. guy can't write superheroes half as well as he can yammer about them.
as for the new 52 I can't recommend Animal Man or Wonder Woman enough. Stormwatch was a bit of a slow starter but it's starting to really pick up. surprisingly enough after all the complaints about the first issue, Red Hood and the Outlaws is supposedly really good, and I've heard great things about Swamp Thing. just haven't been able to pick those 2 up with my limited funds.

Sword & Sorcery: Amethyst, while having an incredibly cliched plot, seems to be well-written and pretty entertaining as well. And it just started last month, so there's no better time to give it a try.
And, of course, I second Wonder Woman, Animal Man and Swamp Thing. I was originally following Aquaman and Demon Knights also, but have since decided to hold off for the trade paperbacks for those.

Given Swamp Thing volume 1 an order and I think Animal Man will be my next purchase. they sound really interesting, went with Swamp Thing first due to it being written by Scott Snyder and how much I enjoyed Court Of The Owls. any recomendations on the marvel side of things?

Captain Marvel's gotten rave reviews and the first trade is coming out soon. Venom's amazing and the first 3 trades are available. ditto Avengers Academy and Uncanny X-Force (which are both ending soon. Uncanny X-Force is getting a new #1 and a new writer, but it's too early to tell if it'll be worth picking up. I can't say enough good things about Rick Remender's run, though. Avenger's Academy is great but some idiot decided to through most of them into a follow up series that rips off Battle Royale and the Hunger Games and they'll probably all get killed off, because apparently we're not allowed nice things).

Lol {Spoiler} The 4 guys all shrank down to the microverse, then Hank saw her and said 'Janet' and then she turned round, saw them, shouted YES! and snogged all 4 of them. She was then about to explain that she never died but was interrupted by a battle armour wearing centaur and the issue ended.

Anyone got dirt on the Captain America finale issue? Origin review issue. The best part of it was Bru's farewell page blurb. It fit the whole tone of what Bru has done with the focus on the character of who and what Captain America is, and was as well written as you would expect, but nothing really happened either. I cannot believe that after all this time, I shall be dropping Cap from my pull list. I have zero interest in Remender's dimension lost Cap and JRjr is an auto no from me anyway.
