If the expansion cost is off-putting, it's much cheaper with Origin and Amazon running regular sales.

I would get University. From what I know about Simcity 5, you need to be connected to the internet at all times to play the game and the severs right now are overloaded because of how many people are playing it.

Question: I have the university life expansion now. Are we able to move in multiple different sets of college students to the town like we could in Sims 2 University? You know, where we can switch between playing different students, like we can do in the main neighborhood/town? I tend to play a bunch of families and like seeing some of my own creations wandering around the campus. I reaaaaaaallly hope we can actually do this, because it would be incredibly lame and make me less interested in this expansion if we could only play that one student/family at the university, one at a time. Edit: I made my sim twin bros enter university and enroll for a large # of days cause I thought it would be like Sims 2 University. Apparently not. I'm very disappointed.

I'm going to see myself then. Also, there's allot of references in this game. The biggest for me being that there's a female student on the campus with Germanotta as her last name. Lady Gaga's last name isn't common like that. There's also a 'Macklamoor'.

Also, you can learn the Gangnam Style dance from the university mascot.

Mine is downloading now. I can't wait.
I never played Sims 2 (only ever played Sims on the console until Sims 3) but from what I saw of TS2's University I couldn't wait until Sims 3 released their own expansion of it.

Sims 3 on my Windows 7 machine keeps crashing after 2 hours of playtime Also, any advice on how to change lifetime goals? I accomplished the Heartbreaker one... then married the last girl that I dated... and she turned around and divorced me because I was cheating on her. Which makes sense... but she won't leave the house. And she took my bed. And my investment in the stadium. And the Bistro.

You change it by buying the Lifetime Reward or cheats yourself back into CAS and change it. EDIT: I'm on Windows 8 and it has yet to crash on me.

It boggles my mind that people still buy EA games when they've proven time and time again to be a unreliable, half-assed, despicable company.

Well, this time it was my bad for not doing my due diligence and not reading the fine-print. If I knew the game required constant internet connection, I wouldn't have bought it.

Well, at least Maxis is back on board to finish up the last few EPs/SPs with EA. I think they came back before or during the making of University.
Burngun, that's why people share their Origin accounts with others. ;D

The thing I find funny about this SimCity situation(besides the fact that it is happening almost exactly a year after the start of the Mass Effect 3 ending debacle), is that EA said they wouldn't have a Diablo III-type situation at launch and were taking measures to prevent that.
Well they are right, they don't have a Diablo III-type situation, they in fact have something worse!
Hell the long and short of all the "measures" they had to take to prevent this was have a crapload of servers. It is one thing for a company to go, "Well we had a bigger turnout than we thought" for a game having connection issues at launch, but you can otherwise still play that game in some form. It is something entirely else when a game that literally CANNOT be played thanks to connection issues.
EA had to have seen this coming and should have bit the financial bullet to get enough servers to last the launch window wave of users.

Compared to the SimCity launch, Diablo 3 was the most flawless launch ever. Just... wow. So much failure. Blizzard was at least really communicative and diligent in making D3's launch woes pass quickly. EA's doing the exact opposite.
I also think EA could've avoided a lot of PR headaches by calling this game "SimCity Online" so people knew what to expect. They really need to hire new PR people.

They took what was once a solo offline experience, or at least had the option to do so, and turned it essentially into an MMO, because the game was DESIGNED around the always online DRM.

The depressing thing is that those who have been able to play consider it pretty great all around, it's just that barely anyone can play thanks to the DRM bullshit.
