I guess to keep with the Chicago theme I should be following this on WGN. But they're just not as wacky as FoxNews/MSNBC. I hope if Obama wins he appoints CM Punk as his press secretary when Punk retires "soon". I hope if Obama loses he sits crosslegged on stage and cuts a CM Punk shoot promo on the voters. Win/win.

A guy on the BBC's coverage just made a very good point, I think, about how close this vote is and how it could lead to a refusal from either candidate to concede defeat.

Out of random curiosity how is ABC giving SC to Romney when it's 63%-36% in favor of Obama?

Just got back from the polling place... couldn't pull the trigger on Rocky and went with Obama. Sure, he may never live up to the hype and the promises but to get rid of all the good he's done so far is something I couldn't bring myself to do... I still want to believe.

Out of random curiosity how is ABC giving SC to Romney when it's 63%-36% in favor of Obama? Lots of places that haven't had their votes counted are heavily Republican. They've been counting the heavily Democratic parts of the state.

They're using exit poll data. You're going to have to explain this to me, as I hate politics and all that goes with it. Exit polling is asking people who they voted for outside of polling areas. In 2004 people were really shocked when exit polls suggested Kerry would win and then Bush won pretty handily.

This is my third Presidential election, and not once has anyone ever asked me who I voted for outside the polling place.
I feel so unloved. Luckily I got my "I voted" sticker. That helps a little.

They're using exit poll data. You're going to have to explain this to me, as I hate politics and all that goes with it. Basically after a person votes a reporter will stop them and ask them questions like "what party are you apart of?" and "who did you vote for?". They use that data to determine trends. If they feel they have enough data to guess with reasonable accuracy who will win, they'll call it for that candidate without having an actual official count. Yeah it could come back to bite them in the ass, but for bigger networks like CNN its usually pretty accurate.

What state are you in? If you live in a state that nobody thinks is gonna be a contest they're not gonna bother with exit polls there.
