Saw the episode and I have to say.........yeah, it was a let down.
The moral was good, but the villian of King Sombra, while a cool design, was rather meh. One of the things that made past big baddies work was they were given time as a character to have a personality. King Sombra on the other hand was just the "generic overpowerful bad guy" which in the end, isn't that interesting.
The door to your nightmares was more interesting than him in the end.
