hahaha Dana was hammered... good lad!
Sometimes you look at Dana, then you look at Vince, and you sort of realize why UFC is so in touch and WWE isn't.

Because Dana is almost 25 years younger than Vince? pretty much. WWE is a show run by one old man for little kids with the occasional begrudging nod to the dwindling numbers of loyal fans who stuck with him over the years. UFC is a promotion run by men in their 30s and 40s for men in their 20s and 30s.

For a loooooooooooooooong time I assumed Dana White was a chick ... it was quite a "huh, ain't that somethin?" moment when I found out the the opposite was true.

hahaha Dana was hammered... good lad! Sometimes you look at Dana, then you look at Vince, and you sort of realize why UFC is so in touch and WWE isn't. Vince USED to go out and party with his group... back when they were huge in the 80's. Kinda the same thing, honestly. Dana is going to be in the same spot Vince is now if UFC is still around 20 years from now.

Well, let's see...
Dana White does not have to come up with storylines to sell the show. Dana White is not obsessed of pushing an incest angle over his fighters. Dana White does not have to plan pushes/depushes/burials and certainly not on a whim. Dana White does not feed lines to his commentator team to bury his talent. UFC fights are not predetermined. In UFC, the better guy goes over, not the more marketable one. You are not likely to see a Kiss My Foot match or *item* on a Pole in UFC.
...and the list goes on.

Most of these are quite relevant: You say Dana does not have to come up with 'storylines' to sell the show. Of course, nowadays wrestling is all about intricate 'storylines' which is part of the problem. What Dana often does is creates, or emphasizes, something quite similar to an old-school wrestling angle. These two guys hate each other, cut promos on each other at press conferences, say each is better man. Bitter rivalry - let's see them fight! Or, this guy (face) respects that guy but that guy (cocky heel) thinks this guy is beneath him/is a liar/will get crushed. We want to see the nice guy beat up the arrogant bad guy! Or, these two guys are great friends, have a ton of respect for each other, and have been training for years to finally meet each other in combat. Who will triumph, and at the conclusion, will they shake hands and still be friends? Put your money in your pocket and let's buy it! UFC does this well - WWE overthinks wrestling too much, mostly because they have far too much TV time to fill.

These days WWE feuds are almost all essentially, "Guy A doesn't like Guy B, they fight every week." There's barely any thought at all going into writing things nowadays, when having actual, developed plots would most likely make things much more interesting.

There's barely any thought at all going into writing things nowadays, when having actual, developed plots would most likely make things much more interesting. It's the fact that they fight every week that's the problem. In my view marquee matches should not happen on TV more than about 4 times a year. Often they now happen that many times a week.
