I don't understand why they stopped doing live pre shows.. Was it a cost saving thing? I wouldn't think it would be that much more to have 30 extra minutes live instead of taped? I used to love the pre shows, they seemed to add to the show... Now all I do during the half hour leading up to PPVs is go to get dinner..

Live TV costs more than pre-taped, so probably the number of viewers didn't justify doing it live anymore (it probably also the same reason NXT is now on Wednesday afternoon and not Tuesday night).

NXT was moved because airing on Wednesday afternoons allows WWE almost a full day to edit the show instead of the 2-3 hours they had on Tuesday nights (although NXT did air live when tapings were held on the west coast). The same thing happened with ECW on Sci-Fi a few years ago when they moved the show from 10:00e/9:00c to 9:00e/8:00c. They quickly realized they needed more time for editing the show and moved it back to the original timeslot within a couple months.

Didn't they end around the time Heat was broadcast? Just easier to tell people to watch that instead of competing with yourself. Since then it's just been cheaper to run a taped show than anything.

not to mention you always got that one exciting preshow match before the PPV.
Rob Conway vs Tajiri, anyone?

That, also I guess they don't have as much pressure to put out the show considering they have almost 24 hours to edit now.

Also they know only about 14 people watch it so they don't have to put much effort in. I'd like to see one week a guy just go "f*** it, it's NXT, I'm not wasting my time TRYING!" so for 40 minutes you have this big watermark on the bottom right from some editing software he was using.

Nope, I'd rather have a massive watermark in the middle of the video telling us that it was done using the free version of an app and to upgrade to remove it.

I like how UFC has a pre-show before PPV with some free fights. I know WWE isn't UFC but a pre-show with a couple matches would be nice. Especially if you have the announcers stop with their regular stuff and shill the hell out of the show. The UFC guys make even the weakest card seem important.
