Cantus, I think in sixteen team super conference CFB, Notre Dame can just remain independent. I know that soft deal they have with the ACC is worth some coin, but if the league folds I don't see how membership is necessary now that a playoff is on the way. Now that ND is "is relevant again" they sit in a validated position of strength as an independent. Last yr people wondered why they had a say in the playoff as a stand alone program. This also shows their power and desirability. A playoff needs the possiblity of Notre Dame, forcing them to join any conference to take part in a playoff isn't necessary nor is it likely to happen in a sixteen team super con era. Just my two pennies The thing is to remember that it was Big XII, ND and SEC as the only ones who said no to CC only in a playoff. If ACC dies off Big XII can join PAC and B1G in saying CC only to force ND's hand. In that case its only SEC and ND standing on that side. The tide of that argument swings and if ND wants to be in the playoff they have to go PAC or Big XII. In the 4 team mega conference model there is little room for Indy schools. The only way that ND could stay Indy in that case is a 16 team playoff where pod winners are in the playoffs AND Pac stays at 12, leave 2 open spots.

I understand what you mean. But that would be some overtly under handed stuff to force them and as they all let ND in I don't think they would do it. The ACC is on the ropes because they don't compete in football on the field or in marketing. They will be left out of this but I don't think notre dame will.

Is there a reason Kirby Smart has yet to be hired as a head coach? I figured he would have had a new job by now. Is he gonna be Saban's replacement someday? My guess would be he thinks he's gonna get a big time job like Will Muschamp and Chip Kelly got for their first job.

Is Trooper Taylor still at Auburn? Actually, no. Malzahn fired everybody. That's good news for Auburn fans then.

ACC is "sticking together" www.theacc.com/genrel/120612aab.htmlIts not a GOR its just that they are sticking together. Much like MIZZOU last year with the Big XII Deaton: Missouri will stay in Big 12 By The Associated Press IE, blood might be about to spill in ACC land.

So, with the regular season over save for Army-Navy, what are the:
Games of the year
Plays of the year
Moments of the year
Team performance of the year
Individual performance of the year

Guys, I'm willing to coach Tennessee if asked.
Who wants to be my assistant coaches?

I had so much fun with that game. My team performance of the year would be either Texas A&M or Ohio State. I don't know many people who thought Texas A&M would be a big threat in the SEC. And I would list Ohio State because they made a hell of a turnaround from their previous 6-7 season. Individual performance of the year would easily be Johnny Football carving up the much feared Alabama defense.

And the fun just carries on. Ron Higgins of the Commercial Appeal and SECsports.com reports that Tennessee has gone back to Mike Gundy with "more zeros" and he would put his money on Gundy being the next Tennessee head coach due to the offer and the fact that Gundy is very unhappy with some aspects of Oklahoma State.

I almost feel sorry for Tennessee at this point.

Can someone explain this future playoff situation to me? Shouldn't just include the top 4(or however many) teams in the BCS formula or something?

Last night Finebaum said this would happen.

There will be a committee to decide who the top four are. The arguments are currently should they just be the top four of the BCS, or should they have to win their conference. I think top four of the BCS should be the four to move on.

Oh hell no. Gundy don't go to f***ing Tennessee! That's an even worse job than Arky would've been. The only real benefit you'd gain is more money, Gundy. Coaching one of the currently weakest teams in the SEC is not worth that extra money.
