Why isn't this Scary Movie 33 is what I'm trying to figure out. Because they gave up the rights to the series, which is why the exact same movie called Scary Movie 5 is coming out later this year.

I was reading cracked.com yesterday and they made a good point: We need "smart" movie parodies again. I mean Mel Brooks style parodies that showed the writer had a love of the genre rather than random spoofs inside a spoof film. The last one we got was Hot Fuzz. That was a loving smart parody, that didn't have a mean bone in it's body.

I think Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz work because they created their own stories, characters, jokes that are made to work without knowledge of films they parodied. Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz work as two original films in the genre they exist in, whereas these Scary Movies and ____ Movie films are entirely dependent on the films they're spoofing. The jokes are horrible and how anyone can spend money to watch these is beyond me.

I can't watch it right now, but isn't it just scary movie? After the Wayans were pulled off the Scary Movie franchise due to 2 being a considerable drop-off from 1(and likely being out of ideas for #3) they are pretty much making another Scary Movie under a different name.

www.film.com/movies/random-twitter-promo-haunted-houseSo, they just randomly grabbed one guy's tweet and used it in their commercials. That's amusing. Also, the film is being projected at #2 with over 18 million brought in on their 2.5 million budget. Not sure how they managed such a low budget, but I guess that shows that Cedric The Entertainer isn't as expensive as such a celebratory name would suggest.

Can't get a legitimate reviewer to give your film praise? Just get some random joe's tweet from Twitter.

It's like they're dueling with Freidberg/Seltzer to see who can make a bigger pile of crap.

Time for the Wayans brothers to hang it up and spare us the trouble.

Ok, now the news that this film might hit #2 makes me less concerned for the Wayans for thinking this is funny, to the viewing audience who thought it was

Always thought Shaun was overrated, granted I was expecting another Reanimator or Evil Dead II and set the bar pretty high. I was more satisfied with Hot Fuzz. The original Scary Movie and Not Another Teen Movie were actually damn funny. Problem is the flicks that followed were thrown together in a haphazard approach so they can lampoon the newest thing and get it out there. It's supposed to be a movie not a long episode of Mad TV or SNL. Don't know if we'll ever see the day of good parodies like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Airplane again.

Eventually parody movies became a collection of trailer spoofs. That way they could be as current as possible. That's another thing that drove the creativity into the ground.
"So, they have the hero jump and land on this thing...let's have our guy jump...and miss! Hilarious!" "And then he farts?" "Of course he does...of course he does."

Go 'head and get yo money, playa. EDIT: The Wayans have had some very funny movies and some funny sitcoms. Haven't checked out most of their latest stuff, I think I stopped after that movie with the grown man as a baby or whatever. Still, I'm glad they're doing well.
