I found some sections on Amazon earlier that had DVD-Rs of ECW events and compilations. Part of me wants to go for them, but are they good in quality? Also, despite being DVD-Rs, if they are being sold on Amazon, I guess it's legit.

I'd say go for it. If its a live event, its a RF Video Fan Cam, which is just a handheld camera at ringside. I actually like them, because it gives you more of a "live in the builiding" feel. Compilations are usually Fan Cam's as well, but sometimes have TV matches on them, as RF has the ECW Hardcore TV library.

Plus if you buy them off Amazon you don't have to give your money to RF, unless RF is a seller on Amazon like Highspots

I have some ECW commercial tapes from them such as The Night The Line Was Crossed, Ultra Clash 1993, some TV sets like ECW on TNN, Hardcore TV and some late PPVS like Heatwave 2000 and Living Dangerously 1999. They are all legit, they have the rights to sell them because of an agreement RF had with Heyman back in the day and WWE can't stop them. The DVDs are great quality, almost as good as if they were from Master Tapes. All The commercial tapes, PPVs and TV sets are in DVD-R format, so if you see that the disc is DVD-r you are buying the legit copy not a copy from someone else.
The Fancam events, are touch and go, but great when you want to see how a ECW house show went. It's raw footage that is really interesting.
I just watched The Night The Line Was Crossed last night, and it is really nice to watch an event like that untouched, from start to finish. Even watching whole PPVs from 98-2000 give you a bitter feel for the era than WWE's compliations.

Will the PPVs be the way it was shot live and have commentary or will it be filmed on location with the fan cam?

Hopefully the description says what it is.

It needs to be noted that the all the TV stuff RF is selling (episodes of Hardcore TV, episodes ECW on TNN, the ECW PPVs) were recorded from television. I ordered a tape with ECW stuff on it from RF back in 2001, and it was clearly taken from a TV-to-VHS recording and not ECW's master tapes. It's basically the same thing anybody who taped ECW shows with their VCR could do, except RF is doing it legally after getting permission from Heyman to sell ECW material back in 1994. WWE is in possession of the actual master tapes of those shows, plus anything ECW taped but never aired. RF doesn't have any professionally shot ECW footage besides what aired on TV.

It all depends how comfortable you are giving money to Rob Feinstein.
From the quality you would be getting, I think you might as well reach out to the tape-trading community, vendors at conventions or other means.
I'm guessing the ones on Amazon are there because Highspots has an Amazon store and Highspots buys directly from RF Video, so (unless it's from a different seller) you would essentially be getting these copies from RF Video.

No. You should not buy anything from RF Video or by RF Video. Either way, at least some of the money makes it back to him.

Are they still decent quality, though? I was thinking about getting the Hardcore TV collections (probably from HighSpots instead, though), but I don't want to pay that much for crappy quality.

Don't know if it matters, but Highspots is selling what RF is selling. If you buy from Highspots, you're still getting the RF products with "RF Video" printed on the case labels. Highspots merely has the okay to sell RF's ECW products. I assume they're watchable, but they are just TV recordings so the quality won't be as good as WWE's ECW footage that's taken directly from the master tapes.

I know how it works when you buy from HighSpots. I just happen to have a HighSpots gift card, which is why I would get it from there. I should have said that (or nothing at all) before.
Good to know. Thanks.

Not defending Fienstein, but remember there are more people than just him working there, so remember that are trying to make a living as well. Well, they could make a living somewhere else than under the banner of someone caught on video attempting to molest a child. And, for the record, the money you would be paying RF Video would be for a copy of the same level of quality from a bootlegger at a convention, ripped from YouTube or found online elsewhere.
