Honestly, I wanted Big Show to win, only for him to reject the regular Slammy, then go backstage for a moment and re-emerge with a GIANT Slammy.

I was more upset about that. Problem is with fan voting the faces will always win. Instead of, you know, the right outcome winning. Cena acted like he didn't know what to do with it I honestly thought he was gonna say he didn't deserve it. He's one of the most self-aware guys in WWE, and he had to know the crowd wasn't having it. Though him giving it to Flair was cool with me. Cheesy as hell, but cool nonetheless.

Except John Cena isn't the 2012 Superstar of the Year, Ric Flair is.
Who the hell would have called that?

The gold piece of jewelery around Mr Brooks's waist proves he's been the best wrestler in the world (in theory) since last year. This is the first year since 2004 that Cena hasn't had a world title or four.

Well, if the vote was legit, it makes sense Cena won, because it's just a popularity contest at that point. If it wasn't legit, it was just to give Punk more to bitch about. But it also unintentionally makes Cena look like more of the company Golden Boy that gets all the opportunities and accolades just because. Honestly, I wanted Big Show to win, only for him to reject the regular Slammy, then go backstage for a moment and re-emerge with a GIANT Slammy. Aw man, that is a great idea. GIANT anything for Big Show is money.

I EARNED THIS! TITLE OR NOT I AM THE BEST MAN HERE EVERY NIGHT!" Something seems odd about Cena lately, his performance and how he's being booked.

Number one, Daniel Bryan (one half of a glorified comedy team) being thought of as Superstar of the Year material? Internet fan dreams, plain and simple. That idea should have been LOL of the Year...
Secondly, John Cena is the Superstar of the Year because he's the most popular guy. It is a popularity contest and the fact of the matter is that Punk could hold the belt for 800 days and STILL lose. I mean, most of the people I've seen on these boards have been clamoring for Punk's reign to end, saying it was crap. Yet he's supposed to win based on a "crap" title run?
You all knew who was going to win. And if for one moment you thought "Gee, I think Punk's got this one in the bag" then you set yourself up for failure.
And third...it's the Rock. He can win any award he wants, because he's the freaking Rock. The Rock > anyone in WWE right now.

The way I see it, John Cena is the top draw. People will come to see Cena no matter what portion of the show he's on. Cena will put butts in seats even if he's jobbing to Zack Ryder in a dark match at the beginning of the show. WWE is just using his drawing power to draw, while putting the spotlight on other guys.

Are you kidding me? The guy entered the year as World champion, moved on to the YES revolution(which is enough of a factor alone),got involved in the WWE title feud, won the tag team titles and been defending them since. He was arguably the most over guy on the roster all year. He might've not won a lot of matches, but he still delivered in every single one of them. He might've very well been included instead of Big Show.

I have something resembling actual disdain for people who think the results were fixed. Its the same hardcore internet fans deluding themselves into thinking that Cena isn't as popular as he is bs we deal with all the time. Of COURSE Cena won Superstar of the year. The fans were voting. It doesn't matter who kayfabe deserved it Cena is the most popular regular roster member right now so if he gets put into a category like that he will win it. Same idea with The Rock beating Team Hell No.

It was a perfect moment to give it to Punk I think it Cena tried that, they would have had Punk reject it, in a "I don't want anything that you've already had YOUR hands on!" manner, and then go on to name Heyman the Superstar of the Year. Which would be funny if Heyman let it go to his head and wave it around in people's faces and brag about it all the time. Damn, now I wish "Paul Heyman : 2012 Superstar of the Year" had actually happened.

It's whatever. In ten years, no one is going to remember who won the Slammy in 2012, but people are still going to remember Punk's more than one year long title reign.
