So now that he's been in a prominent role for a while, what do you think of the name?
I remember when he got it down in developmental, I read at least several handfuls of opinions about how it was kind of a silly name, and one that would serve as a minor hurdle for his long-term prospects (a la the name "Dolph Ziggler"), and I was hard-pressed not to agree upon first hearing the name.
But I kind of love it now, even while I still feel it's kind of silly, in its own way. "Rybeck", maybe, as it sounds like a real last name. But "Ryback"? I don't know. But I've grown to really like it now.
What do you think? Does the name work? Or would you have gone with another name? If so, what name would you have called him?
(Personally, I'd have gone with something like "Royce" or "Bishop", or even gone all Mass Effect and called him "Shepherd", but that's because I name a lot of my CAWs after videogame characters)

Its a fitting name for a monster babyface. Short, to the point, and ending on a hard consonant to really drive it home.

Its a fitting name for a monster babyface. Short, to the point, and ending on a hard consonant to really drive it home. Agreed. Plus if it's good enough for Steven Seagal it's good enough for WWE.

It's very cartoonish. His whole act is cartoonish. I don't mind though.

Yeah, it's a good name. It sticks out among the waves of Wally Bullshit and Chopper Jizzmop names, and sounds terrifying.

It's apparently a combination of his real name Ryan and his high school nickname Silverback. I think it works as that. Would Silverback be better? I don't know.

LOL Ryback's name is kind of goofy somehow, but his whole thing is a throwback to the days of a glorious combination of goofyness and intensity so it works.

I guess because I heard of the name Ryback for awhile that I'm fine with it. I first heard it back in 2008 when he was in OVW. Ryback was released from WWE and decided to do the terminator type gimmick down there. So he became Ryback, which of course is a cross between his old Silverback nickname and his name, Ryan Reeves. Though, I'm trying to think of old nicknames and first names that we could name people.
