Not necessarily the worst pro team but both Derby County (2007-08 season) and Sunderland (2005-06 season) have to be in contention for the worst Premier League teams ever. Both were awful, I guess you could throw in the 2002-03 Sunderland team too, I mean they scored three goals in one game and somehow manage to lose 3-1 . That's what happens when you have Howard Wilkinson as a manager. Ah yes, those two seasons when the Mackems were relegated with the lowest amount of points in PL history- only for them to come back up and beat their own record! Those were glorious seasons.

I have to say The Rams anytime post Mike Martz. Until Bradford rookie season and this year. That for my local votes. The 08 Lions winless season was just terrible. Have to look at the recent years of the chiefs as well.

They also had Barry Sanders for his entire professional career and never got the guy a ring. As I said, a good deal of that is due to his subpar playoff performances. And he had several chances, as the Lions had plenty of playoff chances in the 90's. People are acting like Barry never made the playoffs. You have to remember that for the majority of Barry's career, the Cowboys, 49ers, and Packers were the NFC juggernauts. It was pretty hard for any of the other NFC teams to compete with them. Didn't he have zero rushing yards in a playoff game one year?

The 2010 Pittsburgh Pirates. 57-105. Just an absolutely awful team. Had the worst ERA in baseball and an equally bad offense. At times looked absolutely worthless on the field. Plus that was the season that secured us the record for most consecutive losing seasons by a professional sports team. Plus, you could tell that Manager, John Russell really didn't care by the midway point of the season. He just simply gave up. It was pathetic. Pirates fans think last season's collapse was painful (and it was) but this team was so difficult to watch. You knew they were going to lose almost every game they played. As a season ticket holder, it was a chore to finish that season.

This is the only answer. They went 0-16. They also had Barry Sanders for his entire professional career and never got the guy a ring. Hell, Sanders retired because the Lions sucked. Didn't even attempt to find another team or anything.

The Kansas City Royals. I remember hearing that they are the only professional team (in all of sports, in the US) to not make it to a playoff within the past twenty years. Just... dang.

He had -1 yds rushing in a playoff game against the Packers at Lambeau. He only had 1 TD in 6 playoff games, and never rushed for more than 65 yds in a playoff game. Barry Sanders is one of the greatest players to ever play in the NFL. But if people are gonna say the Lions failed him... Then its equally fair to say that he failed the Lions when playoff time came. I'm a Lions fan, and I love Barry. But it is, what it is.
