I just rememebered the reason a lot of promotions cut ties and subsequently started this lastest downward spiral when reading through NWA's Wiki page. The NWA switched from a membership model to a licensing model, which made their most popular promotion NWA Hollywood leave and some other ones as well. Does anyone know what this means exactly? I didn't really care enough to look into it when it first happened, but now I'm somewaht curious. I would imagine it means they wanted a larger cut of whatever the promotion made.

I'll just break down the offer I gave them over the phone.
ME: Hello, I am calling about your ad on Craigslist...
NWA: Oh, yes sir, you are interested in buying the historic NWA??
ME: Indeed, but I'm afraid I cannot offer too much due to my bills.
NWA: Well, give us your best offer.
ME: I can offer you a few sheets of paper, some 3D glasses from when I went to see Avatar, a half eaten cheese sandwich, and...
NWA: SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it was about that this time I realized that the President of the NWA was about 50 feet tall and a dinosaur from the paleolithic era. And his name was Goo Goo the Dinosaur.

it was sold for a complete set of WWF LJN figures You mean to tell me Zack Ryder is booking the NWA? That explains a lot, actually.

From the info I read other places [not sure], the bigger changes:
-You have to purchase your referee outfits directly from the NWA now, not your choice of them.
-You can sell "your own" merch, but you have to get any merch with the NWA name direct from the NWA [and you MUST have some NWA merch available at each show.]
-If you want to run a show even a little outside your territory, you have to also apply for the NWA rights to that territory as well.
There's probably more, but that's just what I read as problems.

IIRC they just got to continue to use the NWA name. Only now I guess they had to do all those things and probably more that Reflexo mentioned. Hence why their top company left.

it was sold for a complete set of WWF LJN figures The original offer was thee crayons and a carton of milk. Though they did manage to deal their way up into making it a chocolate milk instead. A loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter. I thought it went for a Bazooka Joe stick of gum, and a bottle of MD 20/20.... They got it in exchange for a toy replica of the WWE European Title. The NWA was sold for $5. Which was then used for milk, flour, and vitamins and boiled into energy balls which would sustain Trobich for about a month. ME: I can offer you a few sheets of paper, some 3D glasses from when I went to see Avatar, a half eaten cheese sandwich, and... NWA: SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! obviously originality is still going strong on the FAN boards. you have all made essentially the same joke x

You're paying 300 bucks for the name "NWA" and the right to use the NWA Logo's on belts etc. Also you have the right to bring the World Heavyweight Champion and other World Champions in but when nobody knows the World Champions that isn't really a plus side. It was a much better deal back when the NWA broke away from TNA. There was multiple TV Shows, A NWA Showcase, The NWA Fanfest and your World Champions all had name value even if it was only independent name value. Hell, The NWA Wrestling Showcase even aired here in Australia in a decent time slot (9.30 PM) on a National Network These days the NWA is a couple decent indy promotions, about 16 bad ones and 1 international member (Australia) that runs once every 3 months It's sad, the business model has so much potential but the NWA seems fixated on pissing it away.
