If the house show is down in Detroit last night I wouldn't blame that entirely on WWE, we had snow that basically made the road undriveable unless absolutely necessary. Though our Christmas house show was kind of a flop last year because the only major star on the show, Randy Orton, canceled and they ended up giving a bunch of refunds out.

minus 11% basically everywhere (no Main Event/SMS/PPV figures though)...somehow reminds me of WCW mid-99...

Lack of starpower...that's pretty much it. I was astonished that the Prudential Center Raw that I attended a few weeks ago had 1/2 the arena curtained off. This is a NY metro area RAW on the eve of a PPV. Would that happen in 1999?

They're hitting the mark on a lot of stuff, but they still need a change of direction overall. Evolve or go extinct, really.

Considering that was slap bang in the middle of one of WWE's most successful and star-laden periods.

Of course there was going to be a massive drop, November of last year saw The Rock return to the ring.

The ratings probably don't factor in people who watch these shows later on DVR's and through other means. And obviously more people are watching that way than ever.

But that effects every show on television. The Nielsen rating number is a measure of the percentage of all the people watching tv at that time that are watching that program. And the percentage of people watching wrestling has ticked down more or less steadily since 2001. And this stuff about Christmas Eve having a low rating is true but it's also probably worth considering that it is the lowest of all the Christmas shows since 1997.
