I just bought some candy cigs from a local mom and pop store the other day. Uh oh. Same here. I also got a bubblegum cigar at the same time.

I'm sorry. I know some people see it a 'too-PC' thing or as part of a slippery slope argument, but I see absolutely no value in selling candy cigarettes. What else does it do besides making cigarettes look more appealing to kids? Why turn that into a way to make money?

The thread title is misleading. "City inspectors threatened a misdemeanor citation and $500 fine if Lynden’s soda fountain is caught selling the fake smokes again. " They were told not to sell them, and that they'd be fined if they did it again, but they were not fined yet.
You are right. I should have thrown in the words "could be"
FAN: Sensationalism Edition.

It would be one thing if candy cigarettes were funded by tobacco companies, but I'm 99.9% sure that isn't the case. Candy cigarettes are just candy and that's it.

Probably just a city thing. I've seen them sold in New Jersey and I don't think they're banned. Though on the bright side, at least St Paul hasn't banned sodas larger than a certain size yet.

And as we all know, this fine can not be contested in any court of law and if it isn't paid in 30 days a warrant will be put out for your arrest. Have a nice day!

Haven't stores always sold things like that though? I remember them when I was a kid so surely this can't be a new thing to people. I don't get the issue. I didn't know they were still being sold until this. I honestly hadn't any since around the time of the Big Tobacco Settlement and anything tobacco related that could be construed as targeting kids was removed from stores.

Well they don't have to be cigarettes. They can repackage them as something else. Let's see... What else is white and has a red tip? Just call them candy matches.

What's next, ban water guns? I wouldn't be surprised if it actually DID happen. Goddamn self righteous soccer moms... Raise your own damn kids for God's sake!
