I personally rate the current version of NXT a success, giving the talent plenty of room to improve in promos, characters and in ring. It also carries over some of the storylines from the main roster onto the show, giving them even more depth.
How would you make it even better in 2013? Would you hire more international talent creating more of a range within the roster? Any specific talent you would hire or promote to the main John Cena guy of NXT? Who would you send up to the main roster first, and how would you do it both as NXT as whole and for individual talent? Would you make it a priority to get it onto American TV channel (to add to Hulu)? etc

For a start, I'd give the title to someone with promise, but who WWE will not call up for at least a few months, so he can have a run with it, build up a run of challengers, and also cut down on the lag time between filming and airing, so that we don't get ALTERNATE UNIVERSE ROLLINS AND MAHAL anymore.

First and most importantly it needs to air on American television. Present it as something much different than the other NXTS. I have not watched since season 2 so I am not sure how it's presented currently.
Make these young guys look like a new breed of their own, not just a wwe farm. Continue to bring in seasoned indy veterans and make them the focus of the show.

I agree that the most important thing is to reduce the time between tapings and air dates especially if certain wrestlers continue to cross-over between the main roster and NXT, it's stupid that they're just starting a major storyline that everybody knows the outcome too.
I'd like to see Mark Henry start a challenge where anybody who can beat him gets a place on the main roster. Alternatively sporadic tournaments where the winner gets called-up as constant Shield/Big E Langston style surprise debuts would soon get boring and it would give the roster something to aim for other than the NXT title.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't want them to change anything. It's an underground show that you have to work kind of hard to watch. It takes a sort of commitment to see it very week, whether you're watching it legally or not.
I also like that it has it's own continuity. We are all smart enough to sepparate the two realities. WWE is the mainstream, storyline driven reality, while NXT is the throwback, where matches are longer and characters have time to develop. Where guys like Jinder Mahal can look like a legit threat to a title instead of a JTTS.
I absolutely love watching all these guys develop and I want NXT to be its own thing because I know theres a good chance the characters will be watered down or forgotten about when they hit the main roster. On NXT I can enjoy the efforts of guys like Ohno and Wyatt without getting frustrated by politics and creative.

Also, NXT has amazing vignettes! Remember those?

I'd actually kind of incorporat the two main thoughts here. Keep it basically the same but give it a an American TV pressence (and solve another recurring "problem" according to this board). I'd take the first hour of raw and make it the NXT/Diva show, with it's own opening/look/etc. Then start RAW at 9.

If would be interesting if, when they have solid performers feuding over the title, they let them have title matches at PPV's. If the matches are good, they would create more interest in the brand.

I think they should make it more independent of WWE. Have it's own booker, and writers if they must, but I'd prefer just a booker or a small creative team of like 2-3 former or current wrestlers (it may already be like this? not sure). Get a weird timeslot, like 11:30 Saturday night on the CW. Make it feel like a different company altogether and keep using it as a ground to experiment. It could be like the original ECW, somewhere for WWE to pluck talent and ideas from, only now it's under the WWE umbrella.

I would do some things to make NXT more relevant:
1. A weekly NXT update video package on Raw. 2. Every month have an NXT title match on Raw that's competed for on NXT. I would put NXT guys in that weird second match spot on Main Event. 3. An NXT title match opening the big 4 PPVs.

I don't see why NXT needs to be mentioned all that much on the main shows.
They guys down there aren't even locked into their names and gimmicks all the time. Let there be some mystery for the audience.

Not every guy is meant to be 'figured out' by the audience from their debut. Not to mention the inevitable "Undefeated streak" guys, what happens when you show them looking regular against other NXT guys? Every guy having NXT as a mentioned part of their history takes away something I think. They didn't spend too much time talking about FCW when ADR debuted, and as such, he felt different from NXT guys running around at the time despite coming from the same place.

Stop treating main roster talent as if they are "one of the guys" when they show up on NXT. Guys like Jinder Mahal should stay out of the NXT title picture. Guys who are already on RAW or SmackDown should not be talking about going after the NXT Title because it would be a step down for them. They should be seen as a tier above the developmental guys, but without overshadowing them. I would do some things to make NXT more relevant: 1. A weekly NXT update video package on Raw. 2. Every month have an NXT title match on Raw that's competed for on NXT. I would put NXT guys in that weird second match spot on Main Event. 3. An NXT title match opening the big 4 PPVs. If the NXT guys are good enough to be competing on RAW, Main Event, and PPV against each other, then that means they're good enough to be on the main roster and shouldn't even still be on NXT. Personally I think the best way to use NXT guys on the main roster is what they're currently doing with Brad Maddox. Use the developmental guys as enhancement talent (They job, but the matches are fairly competitive in order to preserve credibility) so that they can slowly be weaned into working in the big arena environment

-Start having NXT title matches as those free matches on Youtube before PPVs. -I like the NXT update on Raw every week idea. -I also like the idea of keeping NXT in small arenas or auditoriums, but also keeping things fresh so we don't see face Seth Rollins or "Signature Performance" Roman Reigns. -KEEP SIGNING THE BEST INDY GUYS!

-slightly Steal the Destination X 2012 angle- if you're the NXT Champion, you have the opportunity to surrender the title in exchange for a guaranteed chance to fight for a superstar's WWE contract on Raw/SD/Main Event. Simple, effective, makes the NXT Title a firm, direct way to get a big promotion- and instantly gives a reason for the WWE superstars to go after the title [as sold as them "losing" their spots to a NXT'er.]

The one problem I see is that WWE would never use this concept to actually put someone over. It will more than likely degenerate into a way to punish or bury Superstars in the doghouse. Zack Ryder puts his foot in his mouth on Twitter, Let's call up the NXT Champion. Anyone who has backstage heat will be used to put over the NXT Champion and they themselves will be demoted to NXT.
