American friends, I am thinking of importing this Blu ray because the import cost is a fraction of the price I'm expecting it to be when it finally releases over here.
However, I am hearing from around the interwebs that it's actually a lazy and pointless cash in, and doesnt actually cover anything worth seeing.
Those of you who have it, is this true?
What is bad about it? What is good?
Are there better alternatives to get some nostalgia? I've been playing WWE 13's Attitude era mode and am totally in the mood to get some late 90's action going on!
Help me out oh wise FAN'ers

I was pretty disappointed in it. They don't go into many details like they do in previous documentaries like WCW and ECW. For one of their biggest peaks as a company, I would figure they go into more detail. Plus the bonus matches just seem really random. Here is a review that breaks down most of the matches, hope that helps www.wwedvdnews.com/review-wwe-attitude-era-dvd-blu-ray/30734/

Thanks for the link, seems that have a lot of the era covered, but it's a shame there isnt more of the Undertaker/Kane/Austin/Mankind stuff from mid 98 featured.

As far as alternatives go, if you have a VCR you could get Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, KOTR, Summerslam and Survivor Series from 1998 on VHS in one set for under $18 from amazon.com. Shame they didn't put that on DVD as part of the WWE 13/Attitude Era nostalgia cash in, woulda sold I tellya. Oh I see you're in UK. You could get the Best of Raw tapes, I hear those are pretty great.

I haven't owned a VCR in about a decade, but I agree that a PPV set from the key Attitude era years, especially with the new unblur rule (which in the UK, we've always had anyway), would have sold well in America

That 5-tape set is TRASH. The events are all recorded in EP mode, and not only does the video quality suffer, but the tape quality does too. I think they'll do volume sets of Attitude to be honest. All depends on how this set does.

I'm sorry to hear that, I have the shows through other means (Rumble, Summerslam from PPV, Mania, KOTR and Survivor Series on DVD). Those EP tapes are a disgrace and they should be ashamed for how degraded the quality is. What's weird is that I've been going through 2002 mostly on tapes, and after No Way Out and Backlash looking nearly unwatchable the KOTR 2002 tape is clear and flawless, it feels yknow, as light as the other tapes from the time so I assume it's EP, but it doesn't look like shit. I'll never understand how the bad tapes got through quality control unless they just completely didn't give a f***.

Honestly I'd just try to watch whatever PPVs I can find on YouTube. The documentary itself had the same problems the nWo DVD had, seems like it was made for people that somehow had no idea either existed, so it feels like Babbys Introduction To Wrestling: The Movie.

No one gave a crap, and therefore the cheapest way became the best way.

Yeah, I had heard as much. Seems silly that they think that's the case when the average buyer of their products is likely the long term fan

If I were you I would wait until Frantle Media (that's the new Europe WWE distributor right?) puts it out and get it.
The documentary wasn't very good aside from the content. I wouldn't bother spending more money just to import it. Just get it when it's available over there.

It's cheaper to import than what Silvervision currently charge for new blus. I should suspect that the new company, Freemantle, will be charging more than that, as SV were so much cheaper than everywhere else I can only assume they weren't generating enough cash and WWE feels a new distributor can get them more

I thought it was decent enough and really enjoyed most of the Blu-ray special features.

Considering I can import it for about £12, it's kinda silly not to....
