I'm not sure any better way to describe this.. I haven't bought an apter magazine (Pro Wrestling Illustrated, The Wrestler, etc) in a long time and I was wondering.. Back when I used to get them, there was a mail in wrestling game where you would mail in your moves etc..
1. Did anyone used to play this?
2. How was it if you did?
3. Is the game still running?

1. I did. It was called the IWA (Imaginary Wrestling Association). I had a few guys and played for about a year or so. 2. It was pretty fun. You picked your moves for the month, pay a dollar a match (if someone challenged you to a match you didn't pay for that) and pick your opponents. There were top guys and jobbers. People would roleplay much like efeds would do and people would join up as a stable. 3. It still exists. www.playiwa.com/

I used to do it... for about 2 years I think.
I had a lot of fun doing it, even was Commissioner of a few leagues.

I had a friend who spent hundreds of dollars on it one month. I am sure he was not the only one. I think I spent a few dollars here and there, but the more money you spent, the better you did in the league.
It was a brilliant scheme to rip off us wrestling nerds.

Yes I played it. I am in the IWA Hall of Fame. My wrestler was 1,004-28-12. When I retired the BGL went under. I was the only thing keeping that league alive. I won every title in the BGL but I never won anything else. I will still like to see what the titles look like.

I played it, it was fun. My main guy won every title in the CDL before I gave up playing it. The thing that annoyed me the most was how everyone tried to get you to join their gang and put the gangs initials in front of your name. I bet that it was really annoying when the nWo was at it's peak.

I used to see the ad for it all the time in my teens. I think I was ready to sign up for it too, but then I discoevered e-feds, and quickly after that, Wrestling Sims (TEW, TNM, etc.), which seemed like better outlets.

I played for a while. Basically had the division jobbers in one of the women's feds because back then I didn't really "get" it, plus half the time I never received my newsletters. For some reason, they apparently thought I lived in Virginia and not Vermont, despite VT clearly being written on whatever I sent in. After a while of that, I got tired of it and stopped sending stuff in.

I played it and some other off-shoot games of the time. (Pretty much any large group had their own newsletter, which also had a version of their game.) I had fun despite my winning percentage being about 55-60%, and still keep in touch with a few of the other players; almost all of us are "retired" from the game and have moved on with life.
Most memorable thing was being in the circle that received Derek Burgan's HYPE 'Zine. Was pretty much the gold standard on anything that happened among the major groups, plus some IWA news, some mad-cap crazy humor (and a few guys who can't say 3 words without cursing). All the IWA stuff I tossed in the trash, I still have my issues of HYPE.

I took part for a while when I was a teenager. I won a plaque for Rookie of the Month. I was ecstatic.

While we're on the subject, did anyone play that Championship Wrestling from the Future game? It had these really futuristic looking wrestlers as well as alien and cyborg wrestlers. It looked really cool, but the price was too expensive for me back then.

Ya I remeber that. Wasnt it like the Galactic Wrestling Federation? Never played it myself. I was an IWA kid.
Was a league champion in the Killer Shark League, won the IWA wide European championship outta the Old World League. I cant remember what league champion you had to go against for the Euro title, but it was the OWL champ and their champ head to head for the title each month.
I still have a plaque somewhere at my parents house for being the Deadly Dungeon League Six Man tag champions for 6 straight months. I was so proud as a kid for that.
Its funny, I got my nephew a PWI subscription for Christmas. He opens the issue and 1st thing he sees is the IWA ad. He wants to join. Maybe Ill join him and get back into it.

I really wanted to sign up for that game as a youth. I regret never doing so.
