I was talking with a friend about Ryback and felt inspired to post about why I REALLY do not like him:
I just don't think he has the talent or charisma to be a main event guy right now. And I feel he is being forced down my throat by the WWE just like Brock was during the "Ruthless Aggression" year when Brock/Cena/Orton came up. I found of those three only Orton was ready back then...but Brock was being force fed to us and I feel the same way about Ryback.
Especially when they are trying to have us forget how he and other members would get beat on a weekly basis by Cena when he was "Skip" in the Nexus. I just feel we as fans have minds of our own and we shouldn't be treated like we don't.
Maybe in a couple years he'll get to the "main event" talent level on his own and it'll show, but for now he just seems like a forced mix of Goldberg and the Steiner's without their talents.
Agree? Disagree? Why or why not?

Brock Lesnar was being forced on us, but it was Randy Orton who was ready back in 2002?

For me, wrestlers should have charismatic personalities, be amazing wrestlers or both (this is the best case scenario).
As Ryback has neither trait, I'm not exactly interested when he's featured on TV. People always say, "Well give Ryback time - he'll get better." But he's been in the game for a while now.

I am a huge Orton mark, but he was no way ready for any big role in 02 or even after he got his push in 2004.

Am I the only person who hasn't made a "Why I like/dislike Ryback" thread?

In fact I think he went down just after they dumped Darren Young, a point where the Nexus still had some more success to be had

Ryback is awesome! I hope he kicks the shit out of Punk and wins the title.

This is pretty much the complaint about The E in general. If it's not Ryback we're complaining about, it'll be some other wrestler(no, I'm not giving Ryback by saying that).

I don't really care about being "shoved down our throats" because the way I see it, it's just a TV show introducing a new character that's important to the main plot. I mean if say we didn't get the Green Ranger because it would look like him being shoved down our throats... ...I'm gonna cut this failed comparison here while I'm ahead.
But uh, as for the second point? It's just an actor playing two characters. I don't have an issue with it.
And personally, I love Ryback.
Ryback is like the goofiest goddamn thing, but he has no self-awareness whatsoever. Most wrestlers nowadays act almost like they are ashamed of being emotionally invested into their feuds, but Ryback is so open about how much he cares about it that it's hilarious. He is this goofy, pissed off roided up godzilla acting like he doesn't know how goofy he is and it's beautiful. I love wrestling when it goes like that.
Plus say what you will about his charisma, but man he knows how to look pissed off. Ryback looks so capable of ripping people's heads off that every moment he's not ripping people's heads off is actively pissing him off.

Ryback is alright. I just don't like the timing of his push.
I can understand why, though, considering he is seemingly super over right now. However, there are so many other people who have been around so long and are more than ready for the main event, but never got there. Discounting his run as Skip (which hardly gets brought up anyway), Ryback just spent months beating random local jobbers, then several midcarders, then suddenly he was challenging for the WWE title.

Ryback has zero ring skills, zero mic skills, zero chemistry with other wrestlers, and already claimed his first injury on Punk. I didn't think it was possible for me to want John Cena back in the WWE title hunt, but here you go.

Here is why I like Ryback,
(clears throat, shuffles papers)
Studies have concluded that Ryback is neither The Miz, John Cena, Sheamus, AJ Lee or Dolph Ziggler, and he is less annoying than these people.
Thank you.

I don't understand the whole "We know it's Skip Sheffield" mindset. That's like saying that we know Christian Bale played John Connor, Patrick Bateman, or that guy from Shaft even though he's Bruce Wayne in the Batman films. Ryback is a completely different character from anyone he's been in the past and you can't really hold him to his previous roles and say he's a failure because of who he once played.

John Cena himself just said we can hold it against him on raw.
