"I'll make you famous." He ripped that line from a movie... Young Guns, I think I liked the character. It was a good progression for Taker.

Enjoyed 'Taker "speeding up" his wrestling style a bit since he wasn't hampered by the Dead Man gimmick, but I did not enjoy the BikerTaker gimmick at all.

I loved it, and I never understand why Vince always tries to pretend it didn't happen. What was so bad about BikerTaker? Vince hates it. I forget the reason why but I have a feeling it's because it's just Mark getting over as Mark and not his ridiculously silly gimmick idea that could have just as easily been another TL Hopper if not for the guy doing it.

I think part of it is Vince as I've heard he views the Undertaker gimmick as his favorite going back to it's debut so having Mark Calloway out there using the name but not the gimmick probably drove him nuts (I don't think it's any coincidence the feud with Vince brought back the Deadman). Also though Mark Calloway the person is extremely protective of his character on TV and doesn't like things put out there that don't line up with what he's doing or make it look bad. It's part of the reason he hates the Satanic stuff, it made him uncomfortable and it feels it made the character look stupid. With BikerTaker, it doesn't line up with the dead MMA fighter stuff he's doing now.

With BikerTaker, it doesn't line up with the dead MMA fighter stuff he's doing now. To be fair, most of the second deadman run hasn't been nearly as stupid (concrete crypt matches not-withstanding) and the gimmick barely exists anymore. But the original deadman character had beyond run its course, like I said in the Nitro thread, that Kane had to be created to keep it going and then it had to go totally insane with the satanic stuff was a pretty good clue it needed to be put down.

I also don't remember if this was newz or not, but wasn't the deadman gimmick slated to come back at WM19 against Show? Only problem being that 'Taker wasn't too keen to the idea and didn't grow his hair back out of spite...

I loved it. One of my favorite characters, especially when in real life, bikers in biker gangs/1%'s are some of the most intimidating people around.

He made it work, but it was a bit silly to go from zombie to Lord of Darkness to.....a biker.
I dont care how legit it was he went from one of the most gimmicked guys ever to a dude on a bike. From the Lord of Darkness to a DoA knock off.
It didnt work for me and I was so glad to have the Deadman gimmick back.
Still waiting for the Lord of Darkness to return though......(Ministry music was just the best)

Loved it. By far my favorite time of his career. Great matches, great promos, amazing storylines and an amazing character. This times a billion.

As a kid a liked surprisingly liked it even though I usually hated gimmick changes that are so contrasting to the original. He just looked like he was having alot of fun and was even more unpredictable than the Deadman in some ways.

I enjoyed the character's 2000-01 "American Bad Ass" incarnation. As a cynical teenager, I hated "Big Evil," largely because he was having some of the worst matches of his career (see also: 1999) in that character. Mid-2002 was particularly horrid, match quality-wise. I like that era a bit better in retrospect, especially the Brock Lesnar feud and the blowoff match at No Mercy (2002, not 2003).
The biker character was a good change of pace, but I thought it was time to mix it up again by the time the Deadman returned at WrestleMania XX.

I really enjoyed it.
I mean, looking back, his return at Judgment Day riding the Harley was fun but you have to say he was at his most bloated, underpar performance wise at that stage. Once 2001 hit he really got the passion back and from there on out was on fire. His character development was a joy to behold and seeing him bust out technical, sometimes chain-wrestling style was amazing. He gained so much respect in that time. (More so than he already had, because there were some who doubted his actual wrestling)

I liked how in 2002 he walked out one week making Tommy Dreamer drink his tobacco spit and then a few weeks later he was a face without doing anything or changing his character.

My ranking of Takers
1.Ministry of Darkness (It was insane and the matches were horrible, but dammit I loved it) 2. Original Taker (debut to 1994 Rumble death) 3. Phenom Taker (Post-Phantom mask to Ministry) 4. Heel BikerTaker 5. Deadman Revival Taker (WM 20-present) 6. Horrible Undertaker (Summerslam 94 to Phantom mask...so many horrible feuds/matches) 7. American Bad-Ass Taker (debut of BikerTaker to heel turn)

It was worlds better than Satan-Taker, but not as good as his 1996-98 stuff.

He started hating it when it became the Corporate Ministry because it became more about the McMahons.

Loved BikerTaker, but then again I'm a big fan of Undertaker in general.
