For the first time in 2013, it's Monday night, and that means only one thing (for those who don't follow college football). RAW comes to you live tonight from Tampa, and by the looks of things, it's gonna be a big one.
For the first time in 5 and a half months, the WWE Championship will be defended on RAW as CM Punk makes his return from knee injury and defends the gold against Ryback in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match, a match that was previously scheduled to happen at TLC before Punk went down. While The Big Hungry may look to have the longest-reigning WWE Champion in a quarter of a century right where he wants him, you never know what tricks the champ will have up his sleeve in order to keep the title. And that's without mentioning all the other scenarios that could happen in this No DQ environment. This could very well be utter carnage to start off the year.
And awaiting the winner of that match? None other than The People's Champion himself, The Rock. His much anticipated title bout at the Royal Rumble is coming ever closer, and the man himself will appear on RAW tonight to observe the proceedings between his possible opponents. He'll almost certainly have a few things to say as well.
Speaking of the Royal Rumble, some big names have already thrown their hats into the ring for the famous 30 man match in previous winners John Cena (2008), Randy Orton (2009) and Sheamus (2012). However, as more and more men enter the match, they each still have their own issues to deal with in the meantime. Cena still has Dolph Ziggler, AJ Lee and Big E Langston on his case, especially after last week's "big finish" to RAW, while Sheamus and Orton have become targets of The Shield's crusade against injustice. Look for further developments tonight.
World Heavyweight Champion Big Show might have finally moved on from Sheamus, but in doing so might have found himself in the sights of perennial challenger Alberto Del Rio. However, it's a much different Del Rio giving chase, one who has taken it upon himself to be a better person and a better friend to his loyal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez. Last week, he saved Ricardo from a beating at the hands of The World's Largest Athlete and got in a couple of shots himself, and one would presume that Big Show was not too pleased at that. Will a future bout be signed tonight?
Midcard belts... Both the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship reside in European hands, with England's Wade Barrett defeating Kofi Kingston last week to start his second IC reign, and Switzerland's Antonio Cesaro continuing an impressive roll with two successful title defenses, even managing to hit The Great Khali with the Neutralizer in one of them. And Tag Team Champions Kane and Daniel Bryan also had a successful week with a title defense of their own over 3MB. Will all these men move on to new challengers? Or will they stake their claim for the Royal Rumble match?
Divas belt... The clock looks almost set to strike midnight on Eve Torres's reign as Divas Champion, with Kaitlyn getting on a roll in recent weeks. Maybe there will be something happening there tonight.
All that, and more Rock sizzle than you can handle, TONIGHT on the first RAW of 2013!
