I'm sure the announcers used to call Rocks spinebuster this.
Possibly one of the worst names for a big time move.

I pretty sure you're wrong. Both in that the announcers never called it that, and seriously that name is awesome.

JR used to occasionally drop the 's' and say 'pinebuster', but that always seemed more like a flub to me.

A little google search shows some old recaps where they call it the piebuster, but one was a recap of this segment where it sounds like Rocky says Pinebuster: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRjEsDxjM5I (last 30 seconds). Easy to see why it didn't catch on, but I oddly don't mind it.

Well in Foley's book, he says that it was a goof on Pat Patterson, who'd drop the S from the beginning of words. So the pinebuster is just what the Rock and JR decided to call it to rib Pat.

They were going to call it Top o Nerae 2! but decided that Piebuster made more sense for the English-speaking market.

Yeah, it was pinebuster. JR also used to refer to it as "a spine on the pine" or something like that.

Pinebuster sounds like some kind of cleaning product.

I don't remember that, I remember it being called "spine on the pine."

Already mentioned, but all I could think of was "SPINE ON THE PINE!"

Pinebuster was just a gag on Patterson, who if I recall, was a good friend of Rock's.
