Do they just play reruns? I don't watch him, but I notice that Conan takes a lot of breaks and I presume it was the network trying to save money. I mean how many big hits does Comedy Central have anyway?

I respect you having a different opinion but Stewart is nowhere near mean spirited for a political comedian. Despite his barbs he has a good professional relationship with Bill O'Reilly and quite a few others of a different political leaning.

If you think Jon Stewart is mean spirited, I can't even imagine what you think of Bill Maher.

I mean how many big hits does Comedy Central have anyway? Yeah, when he's off the show is in reruns. For big hits, still got South Park, Workaholics does okay, Tosh.0 is the highest rated show, Brickleberry does okay I think, Colbert is still huge and they have Futurama. The Roasts do good too. I wouldn't be shocked if in a year or two, he hands it over to someone else (I'd like to see John Oliver get a chance with it) and do a 1 hour wrap up show on Fridays

I hope he keeps up, I love his work on The Daily Show. But as I said, I am just noticing that they seem to go on hiatus more and more frequently, and it makes me wonder if he is reaching the end of his creative rope. And I agree that I get the impression the state of politics in this country is rubbing off on him as well-he seems to be getting more embittered and impatient. I actually think going back to the original formual for a while would probably be a big refresher for him-he is probably straining under the pressure of being expected to always comment on the day's politican events at length. Maybe what he needs is a new Stephen Colbert-another stand out personality who can help take some of the nightly burden off his shoulders. Generally, I've noticed that Colbert takes breaks at the same time Stewart does, so I don't think it's burn out on him as much as it is their writing teams.

Yeah, I forgot about it since the season ended a few months back but it is one of their more popular shows.

Stewart was awesome tonight, seemed he was almost losing his voice towards the end of the 2nd segment.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but oh well.
I miss Craig Kilborn.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but oh well. I miss Craig Kilborn. I don't think it's flameworthy. I disagree, but I think it's understood that they were two completely different shows for completely different times. Kilborn's "Daily Show" run was a send-up of shows like "A Current Affair" and "20/20" for their style of journalism more prevalent in the 90s Clinton-era. Stewart's "Daily Show" (and, by extension, Colbert) is a product of the Bush years and the advent of the 24-hour competitive news channel cycle. As a result, reporting the news on the news with the news is a much more viable, and relevant, source for that style of comedy. It all comes down to what kind of show you would rather watch, or rather watch parodied. I doubt Stewart or Kilborn could perform (or even want to perform) the other's show with such perfection.

I will tell you I don't care how you feel about gun control one way or the other, you have to admit last night's show was hillarous.
The things I can't get out of my head it is so funny to think of it, "Hammer Control" the MC Hammer and the idea of Mr Belding packing heat.

What I miss about Kilborne was that they'd find these like yknow, bigfoot alien sightings people and interview them. It was awesome and I was sad when that show was replaced with politics 24/7.

Well with all this talk of Killborn and Stewart comparisson. Look what I found. Jon Stewart first appearance ever on the Daily show.
In case you don't remember, a lot of people assumed Stewart took Killborn's job. That Killborn was fired in favor of Stewart. No that wasn't the case, Killborn left for CBS Late Late Show, a job that people thought Jon the heir apperant to, he guest hosted Tom Snyder's Late Late Show a number of times, so he was groomed to take for Snyder, but for some reason that didn't happen (I believe by the time Snyder retired Stewart contract with CBS expired) Killborn gets the job. And Comedy Central hires Stewart to replace him.
Ironic when you think of it. That being said, I don't know if we have seen the last of Stewart with Worldwide Pants and CBS, if I am CBS, he is my first choice (he or Conan can't go wrong either way) to replace Letterman when he retires.
