Alex Riley looked like he was getting quite a sizeable push after breaking away from The Miz.. But that all seemed to end pretty quickly.

It seems like John Morrison was on and off pushed. I remember him looking like a future world champ on Smackdown in 09 after the split with Miz. But we all know what happened after that...

Tyson Kidd had a nice mini-push leading up to Money in the Bank, then he faded back to obscurity (unfortunately). Kinda obscurity. He still shows up with Gabriel, they seem to regularly get tag team wins, and they were part of SurSer and were survivors. Plus he bops Natalya and gets mentioned in Punk pipebombs. So that's gotta count for something...

Scott Steiner was pushed as the second coming until people realised he was an immobile roid head with 3 moves.

Scott Steiner was pushed as the second coming until people realised he was an immobile roid head with 3 moves. it's too bad really. I think WWE got him at the worst possible time. he was great in WCW and when he went to TNA a couple years later he did the best work of his career. the big mistake they made with him was making him a face when he's one of the greatest heels in the business.

I still don't know why they stopped pushing Alex Riley. He was getting crowd pops that are rare for a midcarder.

It wasn't the DUI because that happened when he wasn't even a blip on the radar. It couldn't have been the "sandbag", because that wasn't even really his fault, plus they kept him on TV after that, and they don't seem to value Swagger enough that it would warrant punishment. I don't even believe the so called "He pissed off John Cena" story because Cena doesn't seem to be a "RAWR THIS BUSINESS" kind of person, and while that may explain why he didn't get too far, it wouldn't explain why he was taken off of TV entirely and suddenly started losing a lot once 2012 rolled around.

A few people have said that John Cena is that kind of guy. But I'm ok with it when it comes to Riley. Wish they would give his music to someone else.

Riley boggles mind. Has an it factor, crowd loves him, decent talker, good storyline for push, and yet... jobber.

best work of his career?? In regards to Steiner, I think his earlier work with Rick was his best point but his TNA stuff really was amazing when compared to his lackluster run with WWE.

Riley makes the music as much as the music makes him. That song wouldn't be as powerful without Riley's top-of-the-ramp headtilt. Best top-of-the-ramp headtilt in the business. And I'm being completely serious.

It seemed to me that the crowd didn't care about Riley (aside from popping for his music) once he stopped feuding with the Miz. His crowd reactions seemed to diminish dramatically.

Agreed & I love the guy, but its always seemed to me more as if people where/are cheering because they like his music, nothing because of him the performer/person. It is great music either way. More on topic- ill never stop missing The Brian Kendrick.

During Kofi's encounter with Orton at MSG, I was thinking to myself that he just got bumped into main event status from here on out. What a shame that turned out to be.
