In a theater, I think it was a re-release of the original 101 Dalmatians. My older brother wanted to leave and sneak into a screening of Terminator 2.
If I can count the Drive-In (yeah, we still have one in my neighborhood), I saw the 1989 Batman when I was 6. Good times.

The first movie I saw in theaters was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The second film (a few months later) was Gremlins 2. I feel like that was a nice start.

I remember my dad taking me to see The Great Mouse Detective. I had originally thought that it was a re-release of the movie but was just shocked to find out that it came out in 1986 and wasn't re-released to theaters until 1992 so it had to have been the first run. I'm sure that wasn't the first movie I saw in theaters. my dad worked a lot when I was growing up (he'd often get home from work either just as I was going to sleep or just after I went to sleep) so I was with my mom a lot. the fact that he took me instead of her is probably why it's such a vivid memory.

I remember going out to see Baby's Day Out, but not actually seeing it. I was but a wee lad.

Man, some of you are making me feel really old! The first film I remember seeing in theaters is Return of the Jedi. Pfftt. I saw Empire Strikes Back at a friend's birthday party. Or at least, I kind of saw it. I fell asleep through most of it. I think 101 Dalmations was the first movie I saw in theaters.
