I'm not sure Bruno would realize what they were chanting right away if it did happen. But I don't think it will. It would certainly be edited for the television version and dvd though. Right now I'm just nervous about the celebrity inductee. I cannot stress enough how much I do not want it to be David Arquette or Donald Trump. This particular class deserves better. Please let it be Muhammad Ali, Andy Kaufman, Cyndi Lauper, or Mr T. With maybe Lawrence Taylor if it means Bam Bam Bigelow would be going in too. Ali would be awesome since it's in Madison Square Garden. But there are 2 things that might hurt it. The first being his health, he may not be able to make the event if they put him in. The second being, he'd overshadow everyone. He'd be the first celebrity to be a headliner, as stacked as the Hall of Fame is this year, Ali would be the biggest name. I want to see him go in before he passes. The guy deserves it, he, Lauper, and Mr T were huge for Wrestlemania. Also, he was never afraid to admit that he took his brash trash talking style (which made him the biggest athlete in the world) from Gorgeous George.

There's a really good podcast with Bruno on Wrestling Observer Radio that went up last night, including some of the things Trips brought up to bring him round towards accepting.

So someone told me Bruno told Meltzer and Alvarez that WWE is trying to get Arnold Schwarzenegger to induct him and that he's fine with that because they are friends.
So much for his issue with celebrities. haha

I know it's fun for fans to see the legends come back for the night and enjoyable to see the things that come out of the HOF like DVDs and future appearances or action figures but I'm dissapointed in Bruno on this one. He seemed so above coming back after speaking out for many years.
The guy who he's so buddy-buddy with now was on the 1997 Christmas Raw with a naked butt exposed, would shout on the mic. "Let's get ready to S*ck it", raped a manequin/corpse and a lot of other things I'm not remembering. I wish Bruno would see those things and have kept his pride. He was even supposed to do an autograph signing during the weekend which was cancelled. Ted Dibiase might as well be added to the hall of fame ceremony introducing Bruno because he had a price.
I think it came down more to legacy than anything in thinking if he passes away WWE will be the sole writers of his legacy. His legacy for the past 25 years was speaking against the ills of WWF/WWE and IMO he tarnished that legacy. I sure hope Martha Hart is not next. But at least she never professed to be better than giving in/selling out.

Now the WWE has a Wellness program and has tried its best to clean up the drug use in the company. And the show is now PG. I don't see how it's selling out at all. And he's not tarnishing his legacy, he's solidifying it.

I hope he is ready to give Vince as much consideration as Triple H to hear him out because Vince did just as much sexual things as Triple H, maybe even less. With Superstar coming back in 2003, maybe he did come back for money, but on the DVD of he and Vince meeting you could tell they did have a love and respect of each other. Bruno I doubt respects or loves Vince and IMO the stuff he spoke out against was done a lot by Triple H. Just seems too much happened in the past against what he believed in to get over. But I guess Bret could get over getting screwed and hug one of the participants and take checks from Vince so it's OK.

It's about being associated with the product. The product right now he is okay with associating himself with.

It's really astounding how much WWE can control wrestling history today. A kid who started watching WWE within the past five years would think that Hulk Hogan was just a blip on the radar and that the Rock was way bigger than Austin during the Attitude era.

I seem to recall Bret wanting his legacy not to be controlled by WWE as reason for him doing the DVD in 2006. But I also think he had a good history with Vince in the early 1990s with a father/son or older brother relationship and that allowed him to get over things. Just my thought. I also think he has such pride in his work with another great worker like Shawn Michaels that he would allow the screwjob to be in the past.
Superstar and Jesse are two that we never thought we'd see again. In Superstar's case I think it was money but also love for the McMahon family (at least at the time). His DVD is one of my favorites and I do believe in him on that show. Jesse has said it all depeneds on where Vince puts the decimal point so it is about money and he doesn't portray it as otherwise. They never pretended to be guys of values and morals looking down on the type of product WWF was producing with the "filth."
Bruno always seemed to portray that type of person and along with coming back, embracing a leader in the Attitude Era and now with the rumor of Arnold (extramarital affair leading to child) it seems Bruno has done a complete 180. I would have sooner guessed he would come back in 1994, 95 or 96-at least back then all that was done was the cartoon and steroid era but after that came Attitude. I guess he held out long enough that by time he accepted he could get a large amount of money.
As a fan of wrestling I think it is great he will be coming back. I enjoyed seeing Superstar and Vince hug on the DVD and could watch it all day long because it seemed like very real bond. But with Bruno it seems like money. Maybe I'm making too much about it. I hope we never see Owen Hart in the hall if for no other reason than Martha Hart shows that money can't buy everything. If it can then what next? Bruno getting stink faces, eating the dirt out of Dibiase's toes, getting embarassed on Raw everytime it is in Pittsburgh?
I'm sorry if I'm taking away excitement for anyone but I'm pretty dissapointed.

Bruno is a longtime friend of Arnold. You don't bail on your friend even if they are a complete mess.
As far as accusing Bruno of "selling out", WWE has been making changes in its programming and the welfare of its talent. Like Bruno said, if they can change, then so can I. It is good to have your principles but it is also good to keep an open mind as well.

The thing is, Vince never buried Bruno, even after he left. Whenever Bruno was brought up, he was treated with respect (the WWE Legends book, the mentions on dvds and such). Compare that to what they did with Hogan or even Bret once they left the company.

Compare that to what they did with Hogan or even Bret once they left the company. Didn't the top 50 WWE superstars dvd rank Bruno Sammartino at number 24 or something? Also, didn't the graphic in it call him Bruno Summartino? I also remember there being a big squabble over Bruno not appearing in the Unreal Story of Professional Wrestling documentary that aired in the late 90s. Didn't Bruno claim he was kept out of it at the wishes of Vince as part of the deal for the doc using WWE footage? Not sure there's truth to that, but he certainly was noticeably absent from the documentary that pretty much covered all of the greats.
