Are you the smartest person you know?

I think if you ask most people they would say yes, but we all know that's impossible.

I know that out of my college friends I'm the smartest because

A) I dominate bar trivia
B) They're dumb

but I recently started dating a girl who is getting a doctorate at MIT and her friends just blow me out of the water. It's like hanging out with the big bang theory.

It would depend on what areas were the criteria. I think that's probably the same for just about everybody.

Even a genius in say physics or something would have an area that maybe an average joe would smoke him at, just by virtue of that guy's expertise being somewhere else.

I'm probably not the smartest. Maybe in the top 5. But I tend to steer the conversation in the direction of things I know a lot about so I often sound the smartest. So there's that I guess.

No but people seem to think I'm smart even if they're way cleverer than me so maybe that really does make me the smartest.

However I'm easily top 5 when it comes to mental quickness (if that makes sense), sadly that's of very little use as most people come to the same thoughts eventually and then improve on them.

It depends on what field you're talking about.

I consider myself very book-smart/educated, and well versed or talented in a number of fields...even then, though, I don't consider myself top 5 in most of those categories among people I've known.

It really depends on what the subject is. If we're talking general overall knowledge hands down it's my brother.

Not the smartest. But I would say I am well educated in many different areas which may give me the appearance of a know it all.

Same here. Not a day goes by where I don't think, "Man, I'm an idiot".
