He's one of the most technically sound wrestlers on the roster and his promo skills have improved significantly since the infamous 'GENESIS' of two and a half years ago. In the last year I've seen him have good matches with everyone from Evan Bourne and Tyson Kidd to Alex Riley and Zack Ryder. WWE is hard-up at the moment for decent midcard heels, let alone uppercard heels, so why can't Mikey M get onto RAW or SmackDown and maybe win a few matches to give him some credibility?

Because honestly whenever I see him on TV I get instantly bored. He has a face that sucks all enjoyment and energy out of a situation.
I'm all for guys re-developing and getting second chances, but there is a limit of how much you can change and I just don't think he's worth the TV time when there's a whole roster bursting of talent in NXT.

I don't really see it. Never really liked him on NXT, and while I thought he and Otunga worked well together he's never really impressed me otherwise. Kind of doesn't help that he looks less like a wrestler and more like he should be having his face blurred on Cops - little hard to take him seriously when he looks like he should be in a mid-90s crowd shot, y'know?

Its impossible for me to like him with THAT name. If he gets a name change and a serious character change then I would love for him to be pushed. the way he is now as said above he just bores me.

He really needs the "Average" Joe Hennig gimmick... works as a plucky Zack Ryder-like face... that's the only way I can ever see him getting over.

I really don't see why he's not on TV. With as many shows as WWE has now you'd think people like him would get booked more often. Even if McGillicutty doesn't get a push, I'd like to see him have a match or 2 every once in a while away from NXT & Superstars.

I definitely agree he is improving. I loved his matches with Kidd on NXT.

Michael McGillicutty is just a lame name, didnt see anything wrong with Joe Hennig...been watching him on NXT he's a good wrestler and is very over with the crowd! The people who say he's boring must only be referring to his time in WWE a few years back I'm assuming anyway

I like how the negative comments about him are "I just don't like his stupid face."

I think he's technically sound, but like Bo Rotunda - I just don't see what the big deal is. Personality/charisma wise I'm not seeing anything special.

There's nothing wrong with Michael McGillicutty's name. He just doesn't want to coast off his father's legacy.

A new name and a haircut(or some hairplugs) would do wonders, if he is still sporting that curly, thinning mess on top of his head.

I know right, heaven forbid we talk about a Wrestler based on his look and his most viewed promo! Wasn't it Bret Hart who devised the Wrestler rating scale?: "1) Physical presence/look (ie. looking tough), 2) In-ring skills, and 3) the ability to talk or sell yourself." So is it suddenly not okay to be discussing a Wrestlers physical appearance and one of his biggest chances to talk/sell himself?

He's talented enough to have some role on TV but I think he's somebody that needs to find the right gimmick/tag-team/stable (or all three), I don't think he'll get far on his own as he is at the moment.

Yeah but that is like judging Bret off what he was doing in Stampede or Punk in IWA-MS. People tend to grow over time and 3 years is a good little chunk of time. Shit, look at what Husky Harris has done since then. Anyway, I like McG and think a new name would help. I liked the teaming of him and Durty Curty with Johnny creepifying him, wish that would have stuck.

I wish they had just rolled with the Genesis promo and tried to make McGillicutty into WWE's version of Mojo Jojo.

I agree, but I would argue that he doesn't need to go 'that far' to be a useful piece. I mean, I don't seem him as future world champion or anything, but he can easily be a contender for the IC/US Title battling guys like Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Justin Gabriel, etc, if they just let him win some matches on TV.

So is it suddenly not okay to be discussing a Wrestlers physical appearance and one of his biggest chances to talk/sell himself? Except Bret Hart's scale is full of crap. First of all, it buys into this illusion that people get themselves over solely, as opposed to it being a combination of writing and performance. Second, anyone who cares if a fake fighter looks tough is first of all a weirdo, and second of all has a very strange definition of "tough" if they cheered for Bret Hart. Also, dude. They sprung that promo on him backstage literally about ten seconds before he gave it, because they suddenly decided to punish Low-Ki for winning NXT. They probably said, "IF YOU DON'T SAY THE WORD 'GENESIS' WE'RE SENDING YOU IMMEDIATELY BACK TO FCW!!" He literally had to play a completely different character than he'd been playing thirty seconds prior. That promo is less a knock on his mic skills and more a knock on his ability to deal with the whims of completely insane bosses.
