Doesn't really matter. They're going to betray whoever they're working for anyway.
I say Ambrose.

I had my own spin on the Cena leads Shield theory since it's so popular but it makes sense when you think about it.
A Cena led shield Roman Reigns - "Cousin" to The Rock. Who'd know The Rock better then his own family?
Dean Ambrose - He had that little twitter feud with Foley last year and has a notable hardcore background. Counters Foley who's one of Rock's friends.
Seth Rollins - Resembles Punk and came from the same background (ROH) A Possible counter to Punk, a known wrestler that Cena has trouble beating these days.
There's more such as them keeping the title on Punk who Cena who see as a possible easier match then The Rock. The fact that The Shield's yet to touch Cena. So much more to go on but this is just the basis of my theory.

I love how no one thinks it's Roman. He's the one doing the powerbomb, the other guys are just doing the heavy lifting - how is that not symbolic? Because he seems like an angry dullard. Typically leaders need to talk rather than shout. He just seems like the brute strength of the group.

I like the Heyman idea mentioned earlier in the thread. I know better than to get my hopes up though that WWE will go that route.
It'll be CM Punk in charge of them... as predicted.

No chance in hell it's Cena, but if it did the only way at all that twist could make any less sense would be if it were Ryback.

It's either Punk as predicted, Ambrose which I'm fine with, or Heyman working behind Punk's back, which would be an awesome idea.

Zack Ryder. He's suffered lots of injustices, not just from WWE management, but also from WWE Superstars and the WWE Universe itself. He's been held down to the point where he had to make an ass out of himself on YouTube just to get anyone's attention He's been attacked by Kane multiple times Alberto Del Rio makes an example out of him every other week, and now the fans have embraced Del Rio as a hero. And even after all the hard work he did trying to connect with the WWE Universe, he botches a few times on the mic and the fans just turned on him. y'know, this is ridiculous but it'd also actually be interesting. they could do with him what TNA should've done with Eric Young as the leader of the World Elite. personally I'd rather the Shield were in it for themselves, but because that'd be more interesting it's probably not the case.

In the ultimate swerve... {Spoiler} Who else is going to right the injustices of the wwe? Wait...things get weirder. {Spoiler} is actually {Spoiler} #2 and #3 are related..... this isn't as far-fetched as it looks. Though "Uncle Paul" is likely running the shield because Cole's question was very specific.... "Do you [Shield] work for CM Punk?" "Nnnope."

They haven't beaten up Cena yet, but that seems more by accident, or one person on creative holding out hope to turn him heel.

JBL is the only one that seems to be able to decipher their motivation, and he DID hire HBK awhile back. He would be a wicked heel manager for The Shield if they went down Bradshaw Ave again.

I like the idea of Heyman leading the Shield behind Punk's back. Lesnar comes back and wins the Rumble, Punk/Lesnar at Mania for the title. Shield screws the Rock at Rumble, Rock/Cena/Punk vs. Shield at EC. You can build Rock/Cena off of EC, or book it before and have them team, like they did in the build to last WM.
