I can't remember the exact person, but I remember listening to someone on Opie & Anthony mention that they saw Jake Roberts at a bar for some wrestling deal. It was just some passing comment... It was Erock

From WZR Online
Arda Ocal (@arda_ocal) recently caught up with Jake “The Snake” Roberts, and the pair speak of Jake’s terrific transformation and how he has remained sober. He addresses concerns from many about whether or not this is “for real” and will stick. Jake’s oldest daughter Brandy also appears in the interview, who herself has lost over 200 pounds since her appearance in the movie “Beyond The Mat”. She also gives her thoughts on her father’s life change. Finally, Roberts addresses the rumors that he may return to the ring.
For those interested, both Jake and his daugther addresse the concerns about whether all this is for real or not at 6:30 mins.

It's amazing going back and contrasting that video with his 2005 Raw promo with Randy Orton. It's quite clear just from his appearance alone that he's changed dramatically

VIDEO: Jake Roberts Wants To Win 2014 Royal Rumble
Following his marvelous physical transformation in recent months, Jake “The Snake” Roberts is eyeing one more run with the premiere wrestling organization in the world, the WWE.
The legendary wrestler, who has gotten sober and lost 65 pounds with assistance from Diamond Dallas Page, revealed in an interview filmed earlier this month that his 2014 goal is to compete in next year’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match and win the annual affair. “It’s great to be alive, it’s great to be clean and sober. My life has changed so much, I’ve lost 65 pounds. I’m in better shape now than I was in 1992. I feel wonderful. I had shoulder surgery, so I just gotta rehab a little bit more,” Roberts revealed to Bill Apter. He continued, “I’m going to give you a little secret I’m going to lay out just for you, Bill. My plan, whether they like it or not, is to be in the Royal Rumble next year. I want to do it. Not only do I want to do it, but I want to win. To come from where I came from, with all the problems that I had, I’m inspiring people to get healthy, to get right, to get sober, to get clean, because you don’t have to give up. I wanted to give up for a long time. I quit living. And I’m back.”

They should totally have a brief moment in the rumble where DDP and his stable of miracles dominate the rumble for a few minutes. They wouldn't win but man it would be nice to believe for a few moments.

I would mark out like hell if Jake took part in the Rumble!
Jake comes in, dominates for a few minutes, get double teamed by a few heels and then eliminated. Jake goes to he back. Three minutes later, Jake comes out with a snake, throws it in he ring and every single wrestler in the ring eliminates themselves trying to escape the snake. Jake then takes his victory lap.

Didn't know he had a pacemaker, but yeah, he probably wouldn't pass the physical then. Unless they made him not actually do anything and just stand there while DDP and Jake did all the work. Though he'd still need to get eliminated, which could be dangerous...yeah, it's a fun thought but I don't think they can realistically make it happen.

I wish them both well, even though I find it amusing that Jake named his daughter after an alcoholic beverage.

How much had Jake been drinking before that interview was conducted? I thought he was supposed to be sober, no?

Scott Hall has posted the following on Twitter… Lost 30 in 9 weeks. From 298 lbs to 268 lbs with limited exercise. Can’t wait to train hard with Dally…

Hall I doubt can ever wrestle again but he can still become healthier and clean up. Be a joy for conventions and stuff. Even if Hall looks amazing and could kick some ass. That won't fix the heart issues.

From WZR Online
Here is Jake Roberts speaking with Trib live. Check out the highlights:
On the last time he felt this good: “I’d say 1994, 1993 maybe. I’ll tell you this right out front, man, each day it keeps coming in my mind, I will be back in the ring. I will make an impact somewhere.” On whether he would have had addiction problems in today’s cleaner locker rooms: “I don’t think so. I don’t think I would have made it as far as I did. My problems weren’t just drugs and alcohol. I had a lot of mental problems.” On talent today: “Today I see the guys out there, their clean, their sober, god bless them. I know they’ve cut their work schedule down quite a bit because I’ll tell you the truth man, there is no way you could have made it back in the day without taking some type of drug.” On his careeer hopes: “I’d like to be involved in wrestling again. I know I can write better than anyone. I know I can do interviews better than anyone.” On his stated desire to be in the 2014 Royal Rumble: “Vince, you mind as well sign me up for the Royal Rumble because one way or the other I’m going to get in that ring.” On wanting to work for WWE again: “I don’t wanna join your [Vince] kiss your ass club but I’m humble. I just want to help wrestling.”

I do wonder how Jake will do if he never gets to make a comeback in the ring. He seems pretty stuck on making a comeback, but I don't know how realistic that is at his age. It worries me that, if over time, he doesn't get back in the ring, it's going to cause him to go back to his previous lifestyle.
I also don't know if he's set on returning to WWE, or if any indy promotion will do. Chances are someone will book him if the price is right.

Yeah, I'm also concerned about that. WWE will not want him as a regular guy. His goal should be a Rumble appearance and the HOF, maybe an odd match on Raw or something. I hope he isn't gunning for a regular return, because the realization that they wouldn't want him in that capacity might trigger something in him. Hopefully he's more realistic. I'm sure if he's proven that he's clean WWE would love to have him back for an appearance here or there.
