Given how much she enjoys going with stuff that doesn't necessarily look "good," it could very well be both, if what you found is accurate. I didn't much like that other shoot you mentioned though. I found it to be kinda lowbrow-looking. Anyway, I better get posting some pics or something.

Apparently the artist was inspired by the Women's championship belt... specifically, by the parts of the belt that are accentuated the least.

Plus, that's just a really bad picture. Made the colors way too damn vivid.

According to Joey Mathews, the whole thing started over a misunderstanding. He and Mickie were a couple while was he suffering from drug problems. When Mickie got fed up with it and left him for someone else, Melina thought that Mickie screwed him over (who was a close friend) and didn't really know too much about Mathews issues at the time. I think once they realized that they were going to have to work and rely on each for the foreseeable future (with Mickie as the No. 1 face and Melina the No.1 heel) that they finally talked it out and cleared up the misunderstanding. I get the impression that they've been friends for years since that point.
