I would have gone with Aces and 8s. That's next year's winner.

Aces and 8's is getting pretty stupid but it's more a 2013 story. Though it's an amazing example of continuity in wrestling if they were the ninjas that kidnapped Samoa Joe.

Aces and 8s is such the opposite of what I see wrestlecrap/gooker matieral as. It's boring, drawn out, and just altogether "ugh". Gooker material to me is goofy/fun/weird nonsense. More of a "haha wtf did I just watch?" type thing. It can be either. Stuff like the InVasion, the posthumous exploitation of Eddie Guerrero, and Katie Vick weren't fun in any way, they were just...awful. While Mike Adamle, Al Wilson, and David Arquette as WCW Champion all had at least some "so bad it's good" entertainment value.

I think the Gooker winner that bugged me most was Hornswoggle / Chavo. Yeah, it was terrible, but it ate up at most like five to ten minutes a week and didn't really do anything to the rest of the show, while I think the Gooker should have some more lasting impact. Personal pick for that year was pretty much anything Orton was doing.

This deserved to be nominated, but AJ Lee's overpush and her various stupid storylines was so much worse and did more harm. I agree. Claire Lynch at least gave us Kaz and Daniels doing things and TNA was wise enough to abort this angle before it got any worse. WWE still isn't quite done with the AJ stuff. It's still going on and it completely took over the show for over six months! To be fair, it was less "TNA being wise" as much as it was "Claire Lynch bailing" that brought that terrible saga to an end. As the only true dark spot on the shows throughout that timeframe, I say this is a worthy "winner".

Nothing else came close to this pointless or illogical.

Plotholes everywhere, terrible acting, an inane "plot twist" that got Bischoff a raise, general confusion as to who the pregnant junkie was and why we should care about her in the first place... Yep, it had Gooker written all over it.

Yep, it had Gooker written all over it. However, the AJ Lee saga involved main eventers like Daniel Bryan (WHC), CM Punk (WWE Champ), Kane, Cena, Ziggler, a feud with Vickie Guerrero and the GM position and still has no apparent reason or point and didn't accomplish anything. And let's not forget about the terrible acting from AJ and the promos that just dragged on.

Honestly, I don't think the AJ Lee saga or the A&8's should've been on the 2012 ballot, for the sole reason that they're still ongoing in some form (so there's always the possibility for something even dumber to happen later on).

I went with the Daniel Bryan 18 second loss on the basis that it was the highest level failure of them all. It set the tone for a horrible 80 dollar experience. Claire Lynch in some really bizarre twist of fate has been bringing out the best in Christopher Daniels and that roll hasn't even begun to slow down. Daniel Bryan/Sheamus just beat me down and showed utter contempt for a paying audience.

I'm sad no one has photoshopped that picture of Lynch with the baby to make her hold the award.

Absurd. That was the single best thing in 2012 once they stopped taking it seriously and started making it up as they went.
AJ Styles was (not) date raped by a former drug addict who was secretly working with Daniels and Kazarian to ruin AJ. AJ Styles was also helping said former drug addict get clean with the help of Dixie Carter. Daniels made up an elaborate secret affair between AJ and Dixie even though he also had an elaborate pregnancy hoax involving crack addict Claire set up. Serge punched AJ in the face and AJ never thought to admit that the secret phone conversation that Daniels somehow obtained from either AJ or Dixie's cell phone and manipulated was a conversation about getting Serge a bouncy castle for his birthday party. Dixie also never thought to tell Serge that she and AJ were a two-person rehab team trying to save Claire Lynch. Daniels keeps appletinis in his locker.

AJ's also very polarizing. Most people either love her stuff or hate it. I happen to be one who's enjoyed all of the AJ Lee angles. And I also think she's a hell of an actress who is very believable as a "crazy chick" (I've dated a few so I know).

The AJ saga at least started out okay when she was a side character. Clare Lynch began, progressed, and ended stupidly.
I mean, put it into perspective. Which is more Gooker worthy: the Twilight-esque story of a crazy seductress, or a drug addict being paid to smear the name of a beloved wrestler who saved her life?

But the first half of the year stuff with AJ with Bryan, Punk, and Kane was very good and she was at a point in time the most entertaining part of the show. I didn't find the Cena angle bad really, and even then people were saying "OMG WORST STORY EVAR" 3 weeks into it. It really didn't last all that long and it led to the great Cena vs. Ziggler match at TLC

You forgot the part where Daniels was originally blackmailing Kazarian in the storyline and then it turned into Daniels and Kaz blackmailing AJ.

It really didn't deserve the award, imo. Granted the angle was terrible, but at least we got some great Bad Influence antics out of it.
