Everything happens the exact same way UNTIL
Vince McMahon's about to strip Punk, The Rock says "No, I get to do it. I need to do it...for the people."
Bell Rings
Punk asks for a mic and says, "Wait...the people? OH! This whole time, I thought we were talking about the filmography of Melvin Van Peebles. I don't particularly care for his work."
This sends The Rock into a rage and they both being a fierce 10 minute long debate about the history of blaxploitation cinema until the bell rings again as the time limit has now expired and Punk retains.
Vince then says, "Oh, you want to talk motion pictures, eh? Well Punk, if you feel up to the task, we have one more opponent for you. He's from 'Hollywood,' and would love to get back in the ring with you, brother!"
Punk gets a huge smirk and says "Oh? Yes, bring him out! I know exactly what I'm gonna do when he runs wild on me!" and begins to mockingly do the Hogan poses and ear gestures in the ring.
The bell rings.
The lights go out.
The lights come back up to reveal Andy Kaufman standing behind Punk.
Punk turns around startled as Andy small packages him for the 1..2..3.
Lawler and Vince join Kaufman in the ring as he yells "IT WAS A SET-UP ALL ALONG! I HAD YOU ALL FOOLED!"
show ends.

So is Andy Kaufman a zombie, or did he just fake his death?

Whilst I fully endorse the idea also.... I kinda feel like Kaufman's being dead thing might hamper the audience's enjoyment.
Would Jim Carrey do? Then he could start a feud against Kane, representing his dad's honour.

I would have had The Shield attack Punk and then reveal that they work for The Rock, causing Rock to lose by DQ. Only they didn't actually work for the Rock, but for Punk. Punk instructed them to attack him and pretend they worked for Rock because it was hilarious way of winning by DQ.

So is Andy Kaufman a zombie, or did he just fake his death? He faked his death. It's Andy Kaufman. Wholly possible and plausible.

Where has everyone been? Andy faked his death. Although if I were him I'd wait until the economy got better to come back, just like they are going to do with Bruce Lee

Good idea until you realise that as soon as that comes out, Vince strips Punk of the title including wiping every day off his official tally following the Rumble.

As Kaufman wins, "Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield blares over the speakers as balloons, confetti, and gatorade rain from the ceiling.

You should have switched the names of the wrestlers around in your thread title. Then it would have read, "How I would have booked the of Punk-Rock." Then I would be like, "Is Punk-Rock really dead now? Is it official? Has it been dead for so long already? How and when exactly did it die? And how would this poster have ended it? Maybe with a huge Punk-Rock festival including all the greatest Punk-Rock bands ever? Now that would be cool."

I'd have ended it so Punk wins, and is promptly confronted by Undertaker.

I'd be down with the booking in the OP, it'd break down all manner of kayfabe madness over us. So is Andy Kaufman a zombie, or did he just fake his death? He faked his death. It's Andy Kaufman. Wholly possible and plausible. I just laughed out loud, great post!

UGHHH I wish this was more sincerely written, I love Kaufman is alive fantasies.
I personally had him as 30 in the rumble this year, after Cena and Ziggler were eliminated by the SHIELD.

Kaufman, Pac, & Biggie vs The Shield at WrestleMania XXIX in a Powerbomb match, with a run-in by Elvis, Kurt Cobain, & Betty White. She later give's birth to Mae Young's grandson, Hand Jr.
